A short ratchet strap I carry for this purpose was then placed around the circumference of the tire and tightened to allow my mini compressor to inflate the tire.
This is a great tip, I've never seen this one before now. I carry a tow strap, an now I think I'll add a ratchet to it.

I found this one in the road one day. Damaged strap, so cut off the damaged section, then had the local horse tack place sew the end over to keep it from fraying. It has a larger handle, which really helps when working on the tire, but isn't totally necessary. Worked out great, as the shorter length was perfect for tire use and pretty much too short for normal strap duty, except on the bike to suck down a load on the back. I've found it amazingly handy on various trips, and of course, the tire if I have one off the bead.

I've had 2 punctures in 27 years/500.000 km of riding. Both were nails in the rear tire and easily repairable with 1 sticky rope type plug.
The second puncture I discovered today...

Bragger. I can't remember how many I've in that same amount of time/distance. Y'all must take better care to clean up trash.

I can now add another puncture to the list. Had new tires installed 2 weeks ago. When I got to work this evening, I discovered a nail in the rear tire

Now fixed with a wicker kind of plug. Considering just leaving it at that...
