When you get to Prince George, B. C., you have a choice. You can continue on via the Alaska Highway, or you can head due west on Highway 16 (the Yellowhead) and just past Hazelton you can head north on the Stewart-Cassair Highway (Highway 37). This all paved (except for one mile) road is in excellent condition. Very scenic. They have done a lot of improvements and re-surfaced a fair bit of it. Rode it this past August and it was an excellent ride. Gas available now at Meziadin Junction, Bell 2, Iskut and Dease Lake. It is remote and scenic and services are adequate. Consider it as an alternative to the Alaska Highway. Try it .... you'll like it. It meets up with the Alaska Highway about 12 miles west of Watson Lake.
And don't forget, you are all welcome at the Chateau Remo in Whitehorse for camping, cooking, garage access for repairs and oil changes, etc. I'm just south of Whitehorse about 5 km off the Alaska Highway. Let's be careful out there. R
