I seem to have an oil leak from here. I believe it is an oil ring but if any knows the size and/or the part number I would appreciate it. Also if anyone has replaced it how difficult it is to do. It looks like I will have the take the headers off to get to the Allen bolt.
Thanks for any help.

Don’t recognize the spot. Do you have a wider view of what you’re picturing there?

It is below the clutch cover and directly below the plastic inspection cover. It is held on by an Allen bolt and has a wire coming out of it. I think it is the oil level switch.

OK, I see it now. If it is held on with a single bolt I think it is the crankshaft position sensor, Yamaha calls it pick up assembly. Looks like it uses dual o-rings which are available separately. There does not appear to be any crush or compression gasket so I'm doubtful tightening the bolt will fix it unless it has backed pretty far out of place. Pretty sure that would cause an error code or a no start condition if that was the case though. That pick up has to be a specific distance from the tone ring inside the cover. One or both of the o-rings might have been damaged when the sensor was inserted at the factory?

I would re torque it to the proper TQ..... clean the area real good and keep an eye on it... It might just be slightly loose.... Otherwise, order the new seal and re install... Very quick and simple...

NOTE: Because these seals are sealing motor oil and long periods of heat, I suggest the real factory seals and not a generic O-ring.... In my life, Ive already learned that lesson on other projects.

Tabasco thanks so much. I am going on a trip from Mexico City to California from May to July so will get the factory O-rings to take with me and retorque it before I go.
