As I live in Mexico and large bikes are rare strange things sometimes happen. The latest strange thing is Yamaha has doubled the price of oil filters.
My question is will a Honda Africa twin filter fit? I cross referenced it and it said it is the same. After market filters are not commun so i am hoping amother brand is exactly the same. I say exactly the same as I was given an aftermarket filter on a trip to Canada and it was too long.

Thanks for that was a very fast reply. The chart was exactly what I was looking for. I'll check at the local Honda dealer tomortow. I have a Yamaha filter that has been sitting in my tool chest so I'll take it to make sure it is the same size.
The price went up from around 250 pesos in February to 550 today. Price of brake pads also went up.
I guess it is the price of living in a country you can ride year round.
By the way anybody that comes through Mexico City we can put up and show around. If you can do valve clearance checks and arrive with the right size shims we will feed you until the next valve check.

They use the same filter. That filter does come in a long and a short version. Honda used to make both filters. The MM9 filter was long and the MFJ filter was the shorter version. The 1500 Goldwing used the long filter and the 1800 Goldwing used the shorter filter. Several years ago Honda just dropped the MM9 long filter and started using the MFJ filter in it's place. My biggest seller in oil filters is the HiFlow brand. They still carry both filters. Their 303 is the long filter and the 204 is the shorter version. Both are the same filter. A lot of filter makers use the same 204/303 numbering system.

Make sure the numbers cross over to each other. Don't just go by the size and thread pattern. There may be a filter out their that will screw on to your Yamaha and could be totaly wrong for it.

Ok. According to the chart several Honda models use the same filter. I will make 100% sure it is the same. If not I'll pay the 550 pesos or around 30 US dollars.

On my way to the Honda dealer I stopped at a Yamaha shop. I wanted to make sure the price had really gone up that much. It hadn't, the price was 260 pesos. I bought 2 and came home.
Thanks to everyone that posted. I now know what will fit my bike if I can't find an original filter.
