I can't answer that question, but FWIW, Mobil's M108/108a filter(s) fit the Tenere. And, you can get them at any Wal-Mart.
your definitely not the first one to say that but I have never seen any Mobile filters at my local Walmart

Disclaimer: I cannot confirm or deny they carry a Mobile 1 filter for a Tenere, but I can confirm they carry one for a 2.4L Dodge Dart. But, I do plan on checking for the T-12 filter on my next foray to Wally World.

Hi,

While the 5GH-13440-60 is no doubt the original oil filter for the ST1200
it seems that the -61 variant is used instead in the Yamaha boat engines...

I found a long discussion on another site about the -XX digits after the part code 5GH-13440 that was leading to contradicting conclusions...
Some said it was identifying the manufacturing country - no wrong
Some said it was identifying the variant - most likely ;
while in principle those can "mechanically fit" on the threaded plug there is no guarantee of consistency (quite the opposite infact) of either the mechanical sizes and the inside filtering element adopted

See this picture of -50 and -70 as an example

20171112-114520.jpg

That said i don't specifically found any specs and can't recommend the -61 to be compatible....
i would stick if possible with the -60

Cheers

Oil filters is one part where I will only use the OEM part. Most important part of the engine and as we found in another forum, the internals of pattern parts are completely different.

Question to the group, since I am new to the S10 bike, were there any changes between the oil filter specs from 2014 to 2015? I have done Wix filter searches (they are normally my go-to) and the 51358 will pull for anything 2014 and older. Amazon searches yielded the same sort of results. Again, just a question, and my assumptions are they are all the same mill, but just wanted to ask. Thank you in advance!

Sierra ain't tellin' no fibs -- just bought a Mobile filter for the tenere a few weeks ago from Walmart. They had the 108 (shorter ~ factory size) and the 110 (longer) version. Well, they also had the Fram, which I'm not personally against using.

I got the Mobile 110 because the T-rex skid plate has added clearance for longer filters. Changed oil tonight, and everything fits, though I need to loosen the skid and try to gain a little more clearance along the LH side of the filter. Some folks have complained that the Mobile filters have very small holes along the inner support tube, and I see that's certainly true, though impossible to say how much (if any) it cuts down on the flowrate. Perhaps the elongated filter will help offset it by having a longer support tube with more numerous holes, dunno. I'll post an update if the engine explodes.

I worked at a Yamaha bike dealership parts dept back in the late 70s & 80s
What I can say about the last 2 digits of the p/n is.....the very last digit is generally where a superceeded part is specified... mabe from a different vendor...but again... generally same specs. If both numbers are different...there may be a change to the specs...ie filter length...but still totally acceptable for use in place of orig p\n

Yamaha p/n breakdown...
First 3 digits = bike model (s)
Next 5 digits = type of part
Next 2 digits = part variations/subseries
Last 2 = substitutions/superceeded

Honda p/n breakdown similar but reversed
First 5 = type of part
Next 3 = bike model (s)
Last 3 = variations/sub/superceed

I'm not entirely sure there's a savings. But, depending on where the local dealer V Walmart is, it may be easier to get. I trust Mobil 1 oil. I would imagine their filter to be of equal quality.
