Of the six Tenere's ordered here (as of two weeks ago), the Yamaha dealer motorcycle mechanic is the first on the list. That's sweet. I'm also gonna ask if I can come watch while he does mine. It's a small dealership and should be no problem.

Dayum! 6 S10s sold in BFE? I am seriously impressed, no joke! I'll bet the local shops in C-Bus (Columbus, Ohio) don't sell that many all year! So you are in the Yukon, care to sat where? I have notjventurered that far north yet. I haven only been as far north as Bell 2 lodge in BC. Maybe next time, especially now that I will have a bike that do not break a sweat when it sees gravel! Canada is a very beautiful plce to explore. I encourage all out inmates to add a tour there to their bucket list.

I am in Whitehorse, the capital. Yes, there is a lot of nice country. And some awesome fairly well maintained gravel roads like the South Canol, North Canol, Cantung, Top of the World, Dempster (oh my, the Dempster .... you ain't never seen anything like that) ... and you're just a cruise away from Alaska. The ride to Skagway is a perfect day return trip. Haines is an overnight or take the ferry to Skagway and back home the same day. Or venture north to Tok, Fairbanks, etc. Lots of pavement/gravel combos. that's what I am buying the Tenere for .... not for pig trails but for cruising the miles and miles (sorry, kilometers and kilometers) of wilderness up here. Lots of it and not many folks to deal with.

Come on up !!! RR

Fred,

Maybe you coils post the instructions so others can double check the dealer's work? As long as that won't violate any agreements between Yamaha and their dealers.
I would love to have access to a copy of the set-up instructions! You never know what may show up later on that might be attributed to something being missed during the original set-up.

i too would like a set. I think since my dealer is going to let me help in the process, I may get my hands on my own. It will be fun indeed. I already have a weekend planned of it. While my wife is getting a spa, I will be setting up my bike.

I thought about asking my dealer to leave the bike in the crate when it shows up. I'll have to trailer it home anyway.
This is verboten by Yamaha's dealer agreement, but some dealers have done it.

Hey Rem,

I already told my wife when I retire I'm planning on riding the Continental Divide up into the Yukon....turning left to hit Alaska.

I'll give you a call when I'm in the neighborhood, we can go for a day ride.

When I retired, my plan had been to take about a 6 week trip and ride in the lower 48 states. Never happend......... but then, perhaps that should now be my "plan" for the SuperT and this time include Canada and Alaksa!!!

Keeponriding, and any of the rest of you, please do COME ON DOWN .... uh, UP.

I'm cutting back on working as of this summer to spend more time indulging in my motorcycle addiction. It's time. Gotta get 'er done. I am well into my codger years and I need to get my priorities straight.

Let me know and I'll give you a tour. I have a bit of space where I live and I live about 10 miles out of town. Nice large garage to do a bit of work in, and a place to throw a tent or two if you're into that.

You'd be most welcome. Might want to wait a bit .... the snow is a bit ugly just now. And you wouldn't find minus 26 overly inviting. It will come. If you wait long enough, it will come. RR

You mentioned Nelson before, and I am considering it on my ST1300. I have to find out a little more about what my plans, and those of my riding buddy, will be at that time. He spends the winters (laaaa teee daaaah) in that neck of the woods, near Radium Hot Springs. He has a Tenere on order as well. Same as mine. We'll look like a couple of black bugs going down the highway, except mine will be faster. He has accepted this inevitability.

It's difficult to plan too far ahead as I gaze out at the three feet of snow in my yard, the minus 26 and the north wind. But I'm trying. R

Ha!!! Well, not much snow here (except in the high country) - but my problem is looking at this kite-flying contraption on my right wrist and having a hard time thinking about twisting the throttle on ANY bike!!!!
