anybody have a picture of your bike with the OEM side cases with the cases off the bike?
I'm thinking of getting some but am not a fan of lots of plumbing always on the side as
most of the time I would not have the cases on. The OEM mounts seem to be be a lot
less bulky but I've yet to see them W/O the cases mounted...

The reason I got the OEM side cases is that they leave very little 'plumbing' showing when they're off the bike.

That's one of the main reasons I stayed with OEM. There are better bags out there, but as little as I use them, they work just fine. Most people think the bag support is a grab rail. Yamaha seems to understand that a person doesn't always want the bags on, and engineers them that way. The FJR bag supports are even less obtrusive. The FJR just looks like a real big sport bike without the bags. If you take the bags off of a Honda ST1300, it's easy to see something is missing.

Does someone know what size the security bolt for the side case mounts? I thought it was a T-50. It has a pin ? in the center of the bolt and the two sets for security bits I have none of them fit. I got the first set from Harbor Fright and it wasn't the right size so I ordered one from Amazon with a T-50 and none in that set fit either. What is the correct size for this ? Thanx. I guess I need a T-50 with a hole in the center. But I don't see one like that when I look online for itt.

I fitted my pannier rails last weekend and had to loan the right tool from a local garage.

Was a T-50H security socket.

Several of the local auto parts stores sell them.

Wasn't there a smaller one for the locks as well?

Edit....went and looked. It all came back to me. I bought a T10 Security to install the locks, then realized I needed a T50 Security for the brackets. Couldn't find a single, so now I have a single T10 and a set up to T55.

I thought the bit for the lock was smaller. My local Yama-tech allowed me to use his security bits. It didn't make sense to buy bits I will likely never use again. It made even less sense for Yamaha to use security screws on the inside of the boxes. If you're inside the trunk, you don't need to steal the locks. And also, don't forget the blue Locktite on the lock screws. You will see horror stories of the screws falling out, and not being able to get inside the boxes.
