Hello everyone. So today i had to take apart my left yamaha pannier to put in place a piece of it that was a bit out of place and i was afraid of water inflitration if i didn't take care of it. Everything ok up untill i put the top part back in(the bit with the lock). So i slide the top part back in and now the key wont turn. If i lift the part with the lock attached back up the key works just fine, when i slide it back in again the key wont turn. I tried sliding it in with the lach open, closed semi closed or opened nothing works. When i slide it back in the key will not turn. What did i messed up?

Hard to tell from the description. Are the lock cylinders perhaps re-installed upside down (don't know if that is possible)? I know they are the reverse of each other, but you might compare the mechanism on the right pannier to what you're seeing on the left side to see if anything is obvious. I've had mine apart and back together before with no issues, once I figured out how all of the parts aligned. Good luck.

I didn't had to take the lock out for the operation i did. I just left in where it was. It was working before. I just took the top part off a bit, the rectangular ring holding the lock that is attached to the rest of the case with 4 screws.
Edit: so the rectangular ring that holds the lock conected to the push rod that opens the red thing you pull to take off the box, slides in to place but when i turn the key the entire thing lifts itself up. If i bolt it down or keep my hand on it to not let it push itself up the key just wont turn.

I no longer have my oem, but I did have to take that assembly apart once and am stressing my 75 year old memory. There is a semi-circular piece inside that I think also has a small spring. That piece is activated by the lock to either open the top latch or release the red handle in the other direction. If you didn't get that part reinstalled properly with that semicircular piece in the right position to be engaged by the lock when you put the back part back on, that may be your problem. There are no diagrams I'm aware of because to Yamaha there are no serviceable parts. Good luck.

Thank you. I'll get in to it and check.
Edit: You where right sir, it was the spring that got out of position. Now that i sorted that out i need to figure out how to put the asembly back in its place, i have no imagination and i don't want to risk opening up the other one to see how its put togheter. Thanks a bunch!

Glad to help. I spent some time trying to figure out how to get that thing back together because when I took the plate screws off, the internal parts just dropped into the bottom of the box. I wish I could remember exactly how it all goes, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Sorted the thing out. Problem is i lost a spring abd i had to replace it with a spring from a pen but its not hard enough. But it works now!
