Okay. These locks SUCK. May be the only thing I will say Yamaha completely buggered when they designed this bike. I was riding around SE Kentucky this weekend (since the SE Rally was just too much slabbing for the time allotted) and my topcase lock center just pulled out. Who makes a lock whereby the center cylinder just pulls out. Anyone? NO!

So, I'm off to find a T10 security torx bit but before I do....

Has anyone tried making a different lock that you can use a PADLOCK with? Like this:

It would be more secure than these jacked-up plasticky cylinder and hook gizmos that Yamaha design...

Rant off.

Sounds like the torx screws were not tight. Sure these locks are not uber-burly, but with proper care and attention they work well. I use mine daily without issue. Now I did find one of those torx screws out and floating in the box so I narrowly missed your situation. But a few drops of blue loctite and nary a problem since
