Oblique bar risers for the S10?

Dear friends

I have a 1st gen S10. I'm 5'9 and although the position on the bike doesn't trobule me per se, it is a little further forward than I'd like. My friend has a 1200GS and it has beautiful bar risers that are oblique towards the rider, thus reducing the distance for the arms. Do we have anything similar for the S10?

Thanks!

Could this be the same thing?

Edit: I bought these, so we'll just find out if they're good or shit. Does anyone know if the cables and wires are going to be long enough, or will I have to buy extensors? SW motech has a non-angled bar riser and claim that it does not require any extensor parts. But I think this device will cause greater distancing from original position than the 30mm SW-M one.

thanks rob,

didn,t know that to be honest i put it up as an example of the adjustable rox ones, you would think they do a gen 1 version wouldn,t you

rob
The risers and clamps are different Rob, the clamps are angled but I'm sure there will be something similar to what you posted for Gen 1's

I'm using these on my 2012 S10
Did you have to do line extensions buddy? If so, just the clutch, or brakes as well? or worse, throttle wire as well :D

I did extend both the brake and clutch lines. A local Parker Hydraulics store made up new lines for me. The throttle cable was fine as-is.

I am 5'9" and put 2" ROX risers on my bike. I didn't use them for the rise I have them rotated back to me to move the bars back. I should have done that years ago! For me the bike feels 100 percent better and much more controllable. I have narrowed my bars by 2 inches so I got away with out changing anything but I would like to extend the brake and clutch lines. May do that some day.

Following up on this thread in case someone else is wanting to do the same job and isn't sure what to do:

Due to fear of crappy products cf. Mileagemonster's quoted article above, although the one I bought wasn't that cheap and it was made in France and not China, I decided to go for a well-known brand (ROX) seeing as I do a fair amount of off-roading.

I bought the following:

1. 1x set of oblique bar risers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HF5JBC1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details#customerReviews
2. 2x kit of hydraulic cable extenders https://www.helibars.com/comfort/handlebar-risers-adaptors/hydraulic-line-extension-5-1-8-inch-13cm-length/

Regards

Hey buddy

I bought these after reading some terror stories on "cheap" bar risers (not that french ones that I initially looked at were that cheap, per se)

I am 5'9 and I felt I was leaning too far forward on my gen 1 bike initially. But these bar risers made the bar come too close to me, honestly, and I think if I was to do it again I'd go for straight vertical (1") risers rather than an oblique, at least for my size. I ended up turning the handle bars quite a bit forward to compensate for the inch and a half forwarding that came with the bar riser, this also gave me a little bit more slack in the throttle wire which was quite borderline after installing the risers without changing the handle bar position away from me.

Technically, I installed hydraulic tube extensors for the brake and clutch. The throttle wires were barely long enough, and I had to bend the loop they pass through slightly.

Sorry if this is a somewhat messy response. I spent like 300 bucks on the whole thing and I don't really think I would have done it again had I known how little benefit it would yield -- for MY size and my arm lengths in specific.

Edit: One thing that it clearly did, as I am less leaning forward, is put less pressure on the wrist and carpal tunnel. I had some occasional numbness while maintaining throttle on longer distances if I didn't use a throttle lock. This is less of an issue now with the bar closer to me. I still think it would've been enough with just a vertical riser rather than the oblique one. But it'll depend on arm and torso length obviously.
