Novsight LED options

I've read a lot about Novsight A385-N7 being the bulb of choice for people who have gone the LED route with extended caps.

I have been looking for them but I can only find them on Amazon and their shipping time is about a month. I don't possess that sort of patience when it comes to light bulbs.

My question is twofold:
Has anyone tried fitting a bulb that has an external driver?
Has anyone had success running a fanless model?

I'm assuming that since most of the LED threads are a little old that others have found new brands/models that work with Deftoner's caps. If that is the case I am all ears.

If you find another led lamp, that has 50w and 10000 lummens "each lamp"… ..you should try it and tell us… .but with that power…. it hardly cools well with a solid heatsink, it needs a fan

Thanks, I will check them out. BTW, how did you know that they would fit? I haven't been able to find many listings with actual measurements so I have been hesitant to purchase.

The "H7" is a standard size. I was replacing worn out Cyclops, and these don't have the additional module that you have to squeeze in with the cyclops. They do have a fan, and do fit with the Cyclops covers.

Here was my post from then, with photo comparison.

If you find a led lamp that you like and it has "that annoying module" (can-bus) ... you can remove it. This module is only an emulator, it is for those ECUs that detect the burned out lamp (which is not the case with the S10). internally in this module there are only one or two capacitors that simulate the continuity of current as if the lamp had a filament. if you remove the module… .the lamp works the same. sometimes the size of the module does not allow it to be placed inside the headlight

Hopefully your Novsight work much better than mine ! I also had the Cyclops and those were much better but they only lasted 10,000 miles. Been thinking about going back to stock bulbs and mounting some extra lights on the T-Rex crashbars

I put these in a year ago, so far they are working great. 2 year warranty. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W7B3BKW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Glad to hear you're having such success with them. Just switched to these from 3yo Novsights that were getting a bit tired in output, but they never failed in any way. These possess none of the beam deformation that opposing dual emitters project. In either case, not dealing with filaments is a joy.

Thanks for listing these. I'm going to replace the Novsights I have in there now. Not bad, but I believe their output has dropped a bit over the last 2 years. I've had Cyclops, but they were pretty much fried after 10k miles. The Novsights worked as good or better. I like the fact that the emitters are arrayed differently in these as well.

So I did replace the NovSights with this new style. Haven’t done a night check but they appear to be brighter. The old NovSights were in good shape though. Not halfway burnt out like the old Cyclops I had in there before.
