I just purchased a 2018 with 3000 miles that wont start after sitting for 6+ months?
Ideas on what might be wrong and what to do?

How was it stored? Treated gasoline? Alcohol in gas? Battery on a tender or removed?
By not starting do you mean... it turns over but won't fire off or won't even turn over? Have you checked your Battery voltage?

I think the prior owner did put it away with some stabil and tried a couple of things to get it going including some fresh fuel. It will turn over fine but wont fire, does need a battery and probably a quick look at the OBD codes to see what is there.
Just wondering if there is a known issue or resolution for this, seem a few other reports about the same thing here and there

when you turn the key can you hear the buzz of the fuelpump priming?

the first thing to try, and usually fixes it is jump the battery if its not strong, and hold it WOT and crank till it pops after that then it should fire up typically.

Fully charge the battery then take it to an AutoZone for a battery test. A Fully charged 12 volt battery should have 13.1 volts at rest or close to that. I have experienced batteries that show good voltage but won't start a bike. If you have don't have a battery tester but have a voltmeter that will capture lowest voltage then try to start bike. If voltage drops below 10.5 volts your battery is no good. Below 10.5 volts your bike won't fire. Has to do with electrical gadgets needing proper voltage to work. Plus lower volts means higher amps which causes heat and that ruins circuits!

I'd also check the airbox. Rodents have an annoying habit of crawling inside air intakes and nesting, when the vehicles sit undisturbed for long periods of time. If it was stored outside, or in a garage with a rodent problem, I'd want to rule out an obstructed air intake before moving on to the more complicated stuff.

Most likely its a battery problem, batteries do not like to sit.
As already mentioned get the battery charged up and checked.
A battery may appear as OK on a meter but once activated by cranking the amp draw is enough to not activate the ECU.
The quick check is making sure the fuel pump activates when key on, you will hear it hum. After a second or two, turn to crank.
There are occasion flooding happens but rarely, this is when a strong battery come in to play, you may need in that occasion to hold throttle wide open as mentioned.
Hopefully it was stored with fuel in the tank, I have seen fuel pump issues related to pressure regulator when stored with no fuel.
