I was told they couldn't find or notice anything wrong with the clutch, even the Yam Tech from California..
So i have $500.00 to play with. I guess they are use to that short throw clutch on Yamaha's? My friends R-6 and R-1 had touchy short clutch throw.

I got up this morning to take the bike out and noticed both fork seals are bleeding on to to my garage floor..
This is a first as i wiped everything down giving it a good spiff cleaning after installing new air filter and changed the oil before i drove it to the shop.
How do i handle this situation with the shop? :(

I'm happy to hear that the bike runs well, however........................... with the leaking fork seals, it's going to be hard to argue the point, much less prove they had anything to do with a leaky seal, it's a tough one. Also, seals tend to fall under the grey area of 'wear and tear' items.
You could always mention it, but they could counter that it left the workshop okay and you have done a couple of hundred miles since taking it. Wish you luck, but expect the worse.

Only 100 miles going home.. ;) I mean i do expect them to leak at some point but when you clean the fork tubes and come up clean two days before delivery for two weeks. Then bleeding profusely the next day? I will calmly bring this up Tuesday.

That's the key, 'calmly', as they say, softly softly catchy monkey! ::008::

Calmly, yes, but don't expect them to pay for this one. I guess it's possible that strapping the bike on the lift put the seals in a position they hadn't been before but as Dogdaze mentioned they are wear items and you are WAY beyond warranty even if they weren't.

You might open with just asking if they have a SealSaver to wipe any crud from the seals and see where the conversation goes.

I can't seriously make a stink the harness was replaced for free, it just turned 74k today time to dip into that $500.00 credit.
I just hope they can do it while i wait as i can't get another ride 160+ RT x2..
The other alternative is to let the Incompetent ones at Santa Fe Motor sports 80 miles RT get their paws on it.

Hey An...how you been brother? Hope this works out for you. These 1st gens did come with some gremlins, but as you say if you keep pressing on them and dealer cooperates, they will work with us riders, especially when this becomes a hazard to life. You got a new harness, I got a brand new engine at 36K. I know we'd rather not have to deal with this as it should have been taken care of at the factory. And don't take no for an answer. Yamaha will lie if it suits their purpose and I have stuff to back it up. So just be calm and persistent and don't let emotions get in the way as difficult as it may be some times. ::001::

Whats up Brother?? Yeah it has been a long time.. I think i have camped in Ouray about six or seven times since we met when you got your T back getting ready to head back home.. Still have a beer waiting! :)
You still have the same Tenere? I remember that impressive array of Cree light set up you had, Deer incinerators. ;)

Yeah we talked but i could tell right off i was not going to get my way by the tone of his voice, like "OK well i don't know what sort of riding the tech did on your bike and Uhmm i did notice a little fluid, Like why didn't you say i would have let them fix it while it was in the shop !!
My obvious reply was, like how much is this going to cost out of that handy $500.00 Yam credit? $300.00 but he says he will kick me a discount..
Hope to meet again stay safe.. Pete
So all works out in the end, like i was saying i can't seriously bitch..

Seals done yes it's better..
I have a whopping $164.69 left of my $500.00 Yamaha credit left. :-[
Looks like a few labor payments for tire change mounting and balance.
Bike is running better than it did when i bought it, punchy and very frisky now..
Yam tech lost a few bolts my Altrider bars missing a hex head mount bolt along with the side cover screw, Bobby J's replaced them.
I should take the cover off and see if other things are missing or loose.
Waiting on camping weather..

Thats Awesome. We just need to get them to fix all the other Gen1 bikes out there with this issue. I have had zero isseus with mine for 4,000 miles after fthe fix. I am almost tempted to do my ECU now.

well havent been on here for a while as I didnt want to say anything until I had more info, but we thought we had the issue fixed until it decided to act up again today. Little back story to last few months:

Took bike to dealer 8/24/17 - they diagnosed it as faulty ecu, $1200 part. They put the new one in and bike ran fine they said. They put my old one in and they said issues came back. I paid and picked up bike 9/14/18. On ride home, I pull in clutch and bike died, so I turn around and go back to dealership. They take it in for more testing and say if ecu isnt problem they will refund me the cost.

10/20/17 - Dealer says bike is ready. They had a tech from yamaha there looking into issue (i didnt know or I would have went and met with him) and they thought it could be clutch switch, so they cleaned the clutch switch and tested it multiple times and no issues. My old ecu was reinstalled and still no issues arose, so they refunded the $1200 for new ecu.

Now today - 4/3/18 it happened again. little different but the same. Riding along and notice throttle is holding rpm, not dropping much when i release throttle. After a mile of this it quits doing it, and then when I go to a stop another mile away, it dies when clutch pulled in. Turn key and kill switch off, then on and bike wont start. do it again and still bike will not start. Crack throttle open a touch and it fires up, ride 1/2 mile down road and throttle is hanging like it would when this issue occurs. Pull off road, key and kill switch to off position, wait 10 seconds, turn on and bike fires up no issues. Continue 2 mile ride to work and no problems at all.

Right now I have 8380 miles on the bike, and got it back with 8339. I have ridden it about 5 times since I got it back, weather is just starting to be ok for riding here.

Kinda at a loss of what to do. I really do not think its the ecu, but i have a feeling the dealer will want to do the new ecu like they wanted to do before. Part of me says sell it, but dont want it to be someone elses headache and like it is I cant sell it for what I feel its worth. Seems like more and more are having best luck with wiring harness, but dealer pretty much didnt want to hear it when I brought that up

Sounds like an intermittent issues with Idling condition (off throttle) and I am also assuming that when you pull in the clutch, the throttle is also off.

Brain storming.

The YCCT system controls the throttle valves, opening it at certain angle to let in the right amount of air which the also release the right amount of fuel. ECU looks at MAP sensor vacuum readings, intake temperature, Throttle position sensor and determines the amount of fuel to release, and checks the O2 sensor if it did the right amount, under Close Loop conditions.

Areas I think the problem would occur are:
1. TPS sensor or its connectors and wiring associated to it. The service guide shows how to check it. Located at the throttle bodies. Most likely source as this thing tells the servo motor how much to turn.
2. MAP sensor, or its connectors or wiring associated to it.
3. Servo Motor that drives the throttle plates but it being the fault is rare as it works when the throttle are turned.
4. Mechanical linkages that open and closes these throttle plates, are they loose, too much play, too tight...

Check item 1, maybe it is the wiring that tells the ECU the wrong information. There is a post on making the bike respond better by adjusting it.

Lastly, is your throttle plates gummy with oily residue. Would not harm to use Carb cleaning fluid to clean the plates and the surrounding throttle areas. This is sticky stuff and sticky makes things inconsistent.

JoshMundy::: You just described exactly how my bike starting it's long journey of giving me misery for two or more years..
Intermittent stalls had to WAT from time to time to get it to fire up and feather the throttle to keep it running.
Then ran fine for a month or two then start's it crap again..
Nearly a year of High, low and stall bouncing RPM's at a light, i was about to push it off a cliff and clam it stolen at one point.
As i have been saying all along Yamaha knows much of whats going on just not recalling them.
Wiring harness so far has 99% fixed it, it does do the 900 RPM drop once in awhile but never stalled no more raw fuel parked in the garage smell.
And still pulling like a Mule with off the line Cheetah legs. ;) CROSS THE FINGERS?

I own a 2015 non-es and it stalls at least once per tank of gas. Reading and working on a fix now. First time I have had a fuel problem on a Yamaha. I was out the other day with a BMW GS and a V-strom well the light turned green and everyone took off but me. They still won't leave it a lone. :(
