Dead link and what is the spark plug number. Projected iridium plugs are not available in the US.

Could you please post the link to those. I had to get my CPR8EAIX-9 plugs from Japan.

It looks too good to be true. It's an odd part number NGK 95134. I have never seen an Iridium plug for under 10.00. Make sure you check closely that it is not a counterfeit.

Here is the link from the OP:

My plugs have the stock number 96067. There are 2 different kinds of CPR8EAIX-9 plugs manufactured. One has the screw on tip and costs more. The other one is just a bare tip. Please keep us posted if you got the right ones.

Here are the ones I have:

I am of the belief the plug he purchased is going to be the bare tipped one. It crosses over to a FJ1300 which is a different plug than the Super Tenere. FJ 1300 calls for a CPR8EA-9.

FYI, you can get the standard oem plugs at advanced auto for less than $4 with the 20% off coupon on the site. And they have m1 4t on sale for bogo free.

OEM plugs need to be pulled/checked/re-gapped every 4,000 miles and replaced every 12,000 miles. I can run iridium plugs easily between valve checks without the need for inspection.

If you pull the plugs every 4k miles, you are wasting a lot of time and effort for nothing.
Standard spark plugs requirements are much more needy than an iridium pug. Thus the service schedule requirement set forth by Yamaha engineers in the owners/service manual. Going past the required spark plug service can lead to other issues such has failed coil sticks. This is a very common failure on any vehicle of neglected spark plug service.

Chris is right about the coil failure. I let my city car go 88,000 miles on its plugs (regular single electrode copper core basic ones) and it caused a coil pack to fail when the gap got too large. Cost me nearly £48 to fix it. 4000 miles on a set of plugs is nothing and changing them at that mileage is pointless. You stand as much chance of fitting a new plug with a manufacturing defect than having one of the 4k mile plugs failing over the next service period. Unless you enjoy spending time and money swapping plugs I'd suggest that unless you're having trouble in that area I'd be leaving them alone.

I'm getting ready to do my first plug change on this bike. It looks pretty simple. No harder than my KTM 300 2T X 4!! LOL
