Collected my new ride yesterday, an ex-demo March 2014 ZE, from Laguna Maidstone. Traded in my 2012 Versys1000 - nice enough bike, but front end always a bit vague for my taste, although better with Metz Z8s.

Good ride back around the M25, with SWMBO on the pillion & around 20 miles of slow traffic to filter through - it all helps the running in process. The bike has OE crash bars & wind deflectors - with the screen set high, the airflow seems good; far better than the demo 'First Edition' I tried at launch. Waiting for Givi to supply a Monokey plate, then thoughts can turn to side luggage - not keen on OE, so was thinking of Givi PL/PLR367 side frames, with their new WP405 roll top pannier bags, which look pretty weatherproof. Also need to sort out a Satnav bracket for my BMW Garmin/aka Zumo660 & maybe some aux lighting, although, in fairness, haven't tried her in the dark yet.

Let's hope for some decent weather, once the hurricane has passed.......... ::001::

Welcome. Well done on the new steed. Only had my bike a few weeks but put a Touratech screen adjuster n a Givi touring screen n its a awesome combination. 'For me' turbulence practically gone n noise quitened dramatically. Dead chuffed!!

It seems nobody in the UK ever bought a new one ;)

Had my Ex-Demo two years now and no other bike has been so good at so many things, may look at some more mods over the winter to freshen it up a bit.

If you ever find feel lacking on any bike it is well worth having the suspension sorted, my last 3 bikes have all been fettled by MCT (not far from you) along with the Mrs TDM, and they have all come back far better handling with more feel and a better ride quality to boot - cheaper than a new bike.

Welcome Ken, I'm sure that you will love your S10..

Touratech also provide a locking SatNav mount which will fit your bike and will accomodate the 660 ...I have one fitted to my S10

BTW I bought my S10 new 3 months ago and have covered 3000 happy (s)miles :D

Hi Tyke,

Thanks for the heads up. I have looked at the Tourateh mounts but, if using U connectors to link to the cross-bar behind the screen, I was wondering whether the indicator tell-tales are still visible when riding?
Or have you fitted a ram mount? A pic/part nos would be much appreciated. PM if you prefer.

Quite a change from the Versys1000's lusty 4, but more characterful than I remeber at launch. Still, after a nightmare BMW K16 in my stable just ever ready & reliable would be nice.

Cheers............ KEN ..... ::001::

Hi Ken,

The indicator warning lights are, unfortunately, now no longer visible , however I've got used to checking the indicators by simply looking at the top of the lense which is quite visible when riding.

The S10 is a whole lot different to the V1K which , I must say, has a brilliant engine and really is outstanding value for money.

The S10 is very well built and full of character,. I see that you are amongst the band of dissatisfied K16 owners, I've had similar experience with BMW but with a new K1300GTEE in 2010, which was dreadful, and then a GS (the less said about which the better) ....it really wasn't for me, and I struggle to see what the attraction is TBH :)
