Appreciate the update GV, and will be keeping an eye on this thread as my eye is being drawn to the GT.

My UK bike switches MPH to KM, very odd than Yamaha excluded this function in Canada.

Enjoy the new bike.

Finally! After waiting 2 and a half months my new Tracer GT is here and running me around for two days, poor S10 is looking sad and neglected.

Highlights of the GT.....
Wonderful engine, 115 hp but haven't tried all of it yet
100 lbs lighter than S10
Speedometer switches from kms to miles (unlike my S10)
TCS stays in either 1 or 2 (but not off) after turning off ignition
Gear indicator works with clutch lever pulled (unlike my S10)
3 ride modes and noticeable differences
Windshield heights adjustable with one hand while riding
Cool colourful TFT meter
Fuel Consumed display
65 mpg so far, but taking it easy during break in
Quick-shifter is the BOMB

A few negatives..
Chain drive
No distance to empty display
Speedometer reads 5% high
Small foot pegs
Small panniers
Small fuel tank

Turning cold and white here in a few days so both bikes are loaded and heading to Arizona for 5 months, so I'll get plenty more GT and S10 riding time. And I'll post up some photos with cactus and tumbleweed as background. :)
Agree with the above, 600 miles on my GT, 1st service Saturday.
Panniers small but not silly wide so suit me and well built.
Speedo reading off the same as my S10.
Chain drive yes but final drive seal went on S10 and replaced twice by dealer so I will stick with chain and gearchange is slick compared to S10.
Quick shifter is ace! never thought I would be bothered about that.
It`s Soooo light, like a toy compared to S10.

The panniers are the same as the FJR but with a flat lid (they call them City boxes). So you could borrow the FJR ones if you need extra capacity. The lightness is very noticeable on the GT.

Did a side by side at the local dealer with the Tracer GT and S10.
Very close call, but it looks like every dealer on the net is selling them for MSRP, while the S10 can be had for a decent discount.
Might be the deciding factor, other things being close.

Just picked one up last week and over 600 Miles now. Very light and quick bike, gonna be a tough call to keep the S10.

the tank is an ok size for the size of bike.
On my FJ i could squeak out 400km to a tank.
I was lucky to get 220km on my FZ09...
chain has its ups/downs..the c. stand makes it super easy to look after.

I rode the Tracer GT 1200 miles without even looking at my S10, then got back on S10 yesterday for a 200 mile afternoon ride. For me, the S10 is more comfortable with more legroom and better wind protection but the extra 100 lbs and less power sure is noticeable. I'll be keeping both for the foreseeable future, even with different tires the GT will not likely be a good dual sport and I don't don't really see the GT as a long distance tourer either...... but it sure is a great curve-carving hotrod!

The S10 is definitely more comfortable but it took a couple things to get it there for me, I'm sure a couple tweaks on the Tracer will so wonders for comfort. I'm hoping to make to a long distance bike.

The FJ needs contact points fixed, to be comfy (screen, seat).
Suspension was poor on the FJ, MT is likely noticeably better.
I've done a few decent trips on my FJ which were extremely enjoyable

I miss the bike some days, but ok now with one road bike and one off road bike.[/url]

I brought a left-over brand new 2017 FJ-09 2 weeks ago. The lighter weight makes it easier to move it in garage and the triple-cylinder engine is amazing.

Can't tell long distance comfort level yet. I used to ride 480-mile day trip on the S10 without getting beat-up at the end...

After 9.5 years and 679,465 kms, I have traded my trusty 898 lb Kawasaki Voyager V-twin for the new 495 lb Tracer GT. Black with blue wheels, with touring windshield and 50 litre top case coming. The new bike is built but enroute from Japan so I won't have it for several weeks yet. I'm looking forward to the drastic weight loss and significant performance and technology upgrade.
I've had a Kawasaki or two in my garage for 16 years, so it feels weird to be without one now.
S10 will remain as my adventure and long haul tourer, GT will be my little hot rod and weekend solo ride.

Nice!! Congratulations on your new bike the Yammy Tracer GT. I was considering this bike, but for not a whole lot more money I chose the S-Ten. I had an Africa twin and a CB650F. The Tracer is much lighter than what you mentioned, I believe It's around 425 lbs. The triple banger is a great engine popular for some time now.
I just didn't want to move down in Cc's so chose the S-Ten. I did think the Tracer GT was pricey. JMHO
