Hello, I purchased a 2019 Ten ES in July and now have 3400km on it according to the odometer which I found out are at least 10% off according to my GPS.
I talked to my dealer about this and they said this is normal and if I want to have an accurate speedometer I need to get a Speedohealer. WOW seriously.
So I did, SH-V4 and harness SH-U01 is suppose to be for that bike. Unfortunately the instruction's are terrible, in fact it says in the instruction sheet to contact them if your planning on installing on a Yamaha with ABS. Another WOW seriously.
I'm sure somebody on this forum has installed one of these on their Ten, I certainly would appreciate a wiring diagram on the install and location of the speed sensor.
BTW, I noticed that most models are a plug and play set up except the Ten requires cutting and splicing.
Thanks for the help.

I realized maybe this should had been posted in another section NOW. I apologise, I'm new to forum in general.

Welcome to the forum, and it looks like you are enjoying the bike.

Does your bikes speedometer read off? Or is it just your odometer? On my 16 my speedometer is 1 mph fast according to my gps. Never checked my odometer.

I'm not sure about the odometer but the speedometer is definitely off according to my Garmin gps. So I suspect the odometer would be off also.

Odometer has to be accurate, several laws get involved, not the least of which is Warranty Law. Speedo can read as much as 10% fast, never slow, more laws. My speedo is about 7% fast. A total non issue.

Welcome from Texas. Of all the things I worry about....my odometer inaccuracies are not one of them. Relax, and enjoy your bike....she'll last long enough that you don't have to worry about the miles. :)

Speedometer on my 2018 reads 1-2 mph fast, on my previous 2013 it read 5-6 mph fast.

The odometer on both bikes seem to read fast but I never checked to find out for sure how fast.

Congratulations on the new 2019 Tenere !!!

Welcome :)
Is it brand new?
Or could it be that someone have changed tire on it? with some in a not correct size?

Welcome. Speedometer error is a common issue with most motorcycles and will vary further depending on tire brands and wear. I use a gps to learn how much and just deal with it, don’t cut and splice into the bike wire harness.

The bike is new off the show room floor, had zero mileage on it, so oem tires.
I have the Heal Tech kit for it, ordered it a week after I found out the speedo was off, just have not installed it yet. I don't know if the dealer will take it back as it was special order.
I guess I will call Heal Tech.

@lund - Please put your location in your profile. It gives context to your questions and posts in general. It also makes it easier to give accurate answers since the bikes differ around the world. Most Gen II US bikes have quite close to accurate speedo and odo. Gen I US bikes were often up to 9% off on speedo, but reasonably close on odo. EU bikes still have speedo errors of up to 9%. Not sure about Canadian bikes, which are mostly EU bikes. I don't think they require Euro4 yet.

I had a Speedohealer installed on my Gen I with gear shift indicator. Be aware that it is primarily designed to make the speedo accurate, and putting in the correction factor to do that will alter the odo reading too. While I corrected my speedo, my odo became off more. In my case, the speedo read high, and once corrected, the odo read low. Not a huge amount, perhaps 2%. I don't remember exactly at this point.

The speed sensor wire, (VSS), can be accessed in different locations. It's easier to get to on the right side of the engine than on top in the wiring harness. There are several threads on the forum, hopefully still some good pictures. Use this tip to do a google search - LINK The forum search tool does not work on 3 letter words or shorter.

Edit - If you search with the forum search tool on 'Healtech' you find many threads. LINK

I strongly agree, cutting into the wire harness is a very bad idea.

Hello and welcome. Hope you are enjoying the bike! I have read about several of these bikes with speedometer errors. the last 3 bikes i have owned have had pretty good speedometers. I have been past several radar guns in several states that show your speed. they all showed very close to what my speedometer was showing. Right on the speed to up to 2 mph difference. I got pulled over one time in a 55 zone doing 53. That is what my bike showed too. Got pulled over for riding in the fast lane with no traffic at all on the road. I had to turn left in a 100 yards though! ha ha. Hope you get the issues worked out but i would not like to cut into the wiring if i didn't have to.
