The irony is I wanted to trade in my 2013 duke 690 for a super tenere almost 5 years ago. Just recently the rock arm bearings on the Duke failed sending metal all through the engine. Mileage? 15,000. I bought the bike new and it was the first vehicle I ever bought new and first European bike. Welp, I should of quit while I was ahead because 5 years later, I ended up getting a Super Tenere anyways. Gen 1, 2012. Hope to make new riding buddies here. I'm located in Ontario, California and bought the bike to purposely go cross country with it. Thanks for the add

Welcome from Texas. Yeah, I'll never ride anything that's not from Japan. Do a member search for moto.monk. . . . he's in LA. . . . but guard your nuggets. :D There's also a ton of other "non-nugget hunting" Californians.

Welcome from Canada.
I had the 690 as well but the enduro.
Loved that bike off road but some things were a pita. Fuel dongle and oil changes come to mind. 2 filters, 2 screens and drain plugs. Lots of aluminum engine parts so use torque wrench when working on engine.
Enjoy the S10!!!

Yup, great punchy engine, but man the maintenance cycles are horrid and apparently that was an improvement lol
