New Seat!

On my recent trip to Helen, GA, I had a ride-in appointment with Terry's Custom Seats in Manchester, TN. Terry Adcox redid the front seat and a recover of the rear seat. While the new seat isn't nirvana, it's a 98% improvement over the stock foam/shape for me and I'm pleased w/ his work. It's the "no-stitch" design w/ blue nylon stitching. He and his wife Debi were great people to work with on getting this done for me while on the road trip.
Excuse the "dirty" seat pics - haven't cleaned the S10 since getting home.

That looks very good and looks comfortable! I just checked out his website. How much does something like this cost?
To have the front seat redone and just a recover of the rear seat, $375. On this past trip, I put ~ 1,400 miles or so on the new seat riding from his place over to Helen, GA and then the surrounding roads for 4 days and then back home to Texas.
On other motorcycles, I've had Corbin (never again!), Spencer seat mod, a couple of Russell's, and a Seth Laam. I'd put Terry's seat on par w/ the Laam seat. As I put more miles on it, I'll try to remember to report back with an update on the comfort factor as it continues to break it.

I don't understand the "no-stitch" thing....I'm seeing a whole lot of stitching. It is beautiful stitching though. ::008::

He has different patterns (H-stitch and others) - even though there is stitching Terry calls it the "no-stitch" pattern. I kind of scratched my head initially when looking at his web site but liked this simpler design.

What in the world happened to your gas tank?

I had masked off an area w/ painter's tape and sprayed that area w/ black Plasti Dip spray to keep from scratching the tank. I think that it got a little roughed up from the bottom of the Klim jacket on this last trip. Plan to peel the Plasti Dip off and get some TechSpec pads when the Social Security check shows up this month. ;)

Is it a foam or gel seat. I went from OE on the ST1300PA to a gel seat; world of difference. So I figured gel was the way to go now. BUT, I don't see anybody here talking about their gel seats. After doing some reading, gel may not be the way to go. Or is it a butt to butt type of thing; personal preferences? Thoughts?

In talking to Terry, he said that he had problems w/ using gel - seemed to deteriorate over time. He does use different densities of foam. I watched him apply one type of foam, then carve it to a shape, then glue/apply another layer of foam (same or diffent type/density) and carve it to shape until the seat shape was achieved and ready for him to cut out the vinyl cover, sew it up and staple/stretch it over the seat foam and pan.

This is a Terry's seat. It's nirvana. They have core seats so you can keep riding and not wait to get your seat back. Mine is the carbon fiber look with minimal stitching to keep down water leaks. Cost was $250. I can't beleive how much better it is than the seat concepts. The wrinkles you see were from the packing. It was fresh out of the box. They disappeared after a few days.

I really wish I had known about Terry's seats before. I have the seat concepts and it was only a marginal improvement over stock. ::007::

So I have a question about all these after market seats, do they have to be set in the low position or can you interchange between low/high?

Depends on your inseam. Some aftermarket seats are thicker than stock so you may need to run it in the low position.
