Worried about warrantees? You can tell who the BMW riders are. :D I've never needed to use a warrantee for any of my Japanese rides. The closest I got was the front brake switch recall. Got it done, but never had any issues with it prior to the recall either.

One thing FlitMC’s did do for me back in my Thundercat days(YZF600R) was sort a warranty claim for a new silencer. The original black painted one was getting pretty rusty after 18mths of general use, even though the bike was washed after every winter ride. I was way more precious of my bikes back then. They even held onto it until the end of that winter, fitting it the folloing spring. Although shortly after I traded the bike for an R1100RS for a 2up camping holiday with my then new girlfriend(now the wife) :) :)

My seat rework that I did last summer straight after buying the S10 has definitely helped, but its left it rather firm. So I decided to try adding a gel pad. But after taking an initial pic, I forgot to tale one with the gel pad or the stages aftero_O
So here it is back together

And the one stage I did record

New insurance policysorted, so good for up to 10,000mile for this year. I’ve also added my personal reg no too. I’ve dropped the FJR off the policy and will be putting it up for sale soon. My GS needs a good service and a fresh MOT too. my Pan hasn’t seen daylight in over a year, so once the FJR is gone and the GS sorted that’ll come out and get some attention and a few rides to help me decided to keep or sell.
Taking the wife into town later to try a new helmet. Her Shoei must be at least ten years old. It’s not had much use in that time, but last year she started complaining how it was getting uncomfortable. She’s an XXS which makes the choices very limited. Shoei do very few options in that size, so we’re looking at a Nolan this time. They seem to be one of the few brands that offer her size in most colours/patterns.

About to service my Ten. She’s on 12500 and I’m about to do a trip to Valencia next week. I’ve also got to fit the second hand centre stand which I resprayed with smooth hammerite last week. And a new rear Conti Trail3 on the rear, the front still looks pretty good so hopefully I’ll get most of the life of another rear out of it. It’s been such a busy summer I haven’t managed to sell the FJR, hopefully I’ll be able to try after this trip, although might be better to wait till spring now. The Pans back on the road, took a fair bit of getting use to the weight, but I’m enjoying riding her again. Will need to get the old GS out too after the trip, should really use that over the winter.

Not quite. The guy thats arranging it has done it a few years, and originally thats what they did. But after a few years he booked the wrong weekend and the consensus was that it was more fun going to a coastal bar and watching it on a big screen!! Doing the GP is a long day, mostly spent stuck getting in and out of circuit on the day, they prefer to go for a long ride instead.
So we‘ve an overnight ferry to Caen Wednesday night, Head south Thursday, into Spain Friday, 3 days riding round then return in a similar manner getting back in uk early Thursday morning.

looks a bit nicer with a fewcoats of smooth hammerite. Couldn’t find a powder coater that didn’t want a king’s ransom for a single item. Take a box full of bits and it’s fifty quid the lot, one item …..fifty quid:eek:

So today was mostly about giving mine a full 12k service. Started with the usual oil n filter, decided I’d do the final drive so I know its done, well glad I did as its pretty obvious that neither of the two dealer services I’d paid for had done it. Filthy grey slime and quite a lot of gunk on the magnet. I will admit that this is one area BMW are better at….. putting their filler upwards so you can just pour oil straight in:mad:. I swapped the fill and drainplugs for some nice stainless ones my mate Charlie makes and had donated me. Shame he’d run out of vent caps though. Cleaned the front brakes, then lifted the tank to check the air filter.

Decided that 12k was enoigh for the OE one, and as I’d bought a new one I might as well fit it.
But first I pulled the air box, pulled the plugs out, but just cleaned and gapped them. Find it hard to believe they need replacing at 12k. Gonna let them do double that unless things play up. Greased up the coil packs, although there was no signs of water ingress.
My mate Charlie swears by Throttle synching, so before dropping the tank I had a play with my Carbtune gauge.

Close enough. Just couldn’t quite get them spot on, but this is way closer. They were around 20-24 before adjusting. Test ride tomorrow will decide if its any better to ride.
There is a bit of concern about fuel supplies in France atm, so Charlie decided to mount a 5ltr can on the pillion luggage rack, and after he supplied a duplicate of a fitting kit he’d made I’ve bought the same can.9DA6A07C-4567-435B-AF13-64F61C228CDE.jpeg
So after seeing tha Arrow can for sale on ebay, the Wife offered to buy it, so I thought ‘why not?’. So that went on next.
I’m planning a wee ride in the morning to try the exhaust, but I’m not convinced I’ll keep it. I use the panniers enough to worry what the exhaust heat will do to them aimed directly at the mount. Monday or Tuesday I’ll whip the back wheel out to take to my mot man to fit a new TA3 for the upcoming trip. I’ll give the back brake a clean up then, possibly new pads, they do look a bit thin. And I’d bet I’ll be refitting the OE exhaust too:rolleyes:

A freshly serviced bike by your own hand, is a good bike.

Have a great trip and be sure to let us know how you’re getting on, along the way.

Just had a 160mile shake down ride to Chipping Norton and back. Rather surprised the bar in line with the zorst gets hot, but the actual pannier frame stays pretty cool. Bikes running great, bit smoother, holds 30’s nicer.

New TA3 fitted today and cleaned up rear brake. Left the pads in, theyre only half worn, so should be fine for another 6k at least. just needs a run round the block to check the new tyre out, fill with fun, (inc the can) and a wash. And maybe swap back to std exhaust…..

So my trip to Valencia has started. I’ve set off ahead of the rest of the group. Even though a fair few are retired they’re all too busy to set off ahead of a huge rain front which they’re now currently enjoying from MK to Portsmouth. I’ve just had a mostly dry run down and I’m now sitting out the rain in a local McDonald’s. CCEFA3E3-38AB-48AB-AE82-25696C7702AA.jpeg

So Happy Birthday to my bike today. She’s two years old as per original registration date. And so, as of the morning she’s no longer under warranty, but then as I didn’t get the dealer to do her service last month at 12000m I doubt they’d have honoured the last few weeks anyway:rolleyes:. Need to give her a clean after sundays ride with my best man, and I’ve still got the new crash bars to fit when they arrive, plus an R+G front axle kit and new hand guard to go on too.
Just over 15000m showing now, and I’ve just Sorned her for the winter. Will be using the Pan for the next few rides and will get my old GS out for the rest of the winter. Roll on spring…….B576E5A7-1941-4536-8E12-25A250C5CC14.jpeg28593503-44FB-4D26-B101-11F422431827.jpeg

Crash bars finally fitted.2AFC1BB6-A10E-4A18-B7AE-4458C7E47EA9.jpeg
pretty pleased with them, I didn’t want full scaffolding. One slight concern is the kit didn’t include longer bolts for the front engine mounts and I’m not happy there’s enough threads going into the block now. So Tuesday I’ll pop one back out and see if a mate can find me a couple of longer bolts at his works.
Fitted a set of R+G front axle bobbins too. And a new Garmin XT mount for the new Satnag bought for me as an xmas pressie.E370CDAD-7415-468F-8173-0605A23B3663.jpeg
My mates offered a New Years Day ride to Norfolk coast, so I might retax her for that. Kinda missing her, and the Pans not got heated grips atm.
