I have had some interest in this rack, so I thought I would offer it up. If I can get 5 people that want one, I will make them up. It should take about 2 weeks to fab and powder coat them, once I have the orders.

The rack is made of ¼ inch and 3/16 5052 aluminum and takes advantage of the un-used space below the stock rack, snuggly accepting a 1 gallon Rotopax can, or if you choose, tools, tent poles or whatever. It also has multiple cut outs for a variety of strapping options.

The rack weighs under 7 pounds, and price includes stainless steel mounting screws and aluminum spacers.

I have the grab handles removed on mine, not sure if it is required but if you are using this rack there is no need for the handles.

Price is $325, plus actual shipping. Paypal “goods and services” preferred. I would rather stay away from shipping internationally as I think it would be cost prohibitive.

I you have any questions please feel free to PM me.

Nice looking rack, but the pointy trailing ends look they will snag you when moving 'round the bike...

Thanks for the input. Although the basic design is remaining the same, all future racks will have this area rounded down as to not be so "pointed".
Sorry about that, being both an engineer and a clutz, I couldn't help but comment!

Very nice! I'd jump on this if I didn't have investment in my Altrider. But you improved upon all other racks! Nice work! Altrider costs $400USD for the same setup and I like that one can keep the passenger seat installed on your seat, where with the Altrider one has to remove the passenger seat.

looks pretty darn good, as good as anything offered out there as far as quality etc. goes . my bike is already kitted out after 7 years of owner ship , but a new buyer should be interested , especially a rack that does not cover rear seat .options I guess . i see a future for you in this , keep it up.

Hey there! Did I understand you correctly when you said you have an Altrider rear rack that mounts OVER your pillion seat? AND you are able to mount a rear case on it? Can you share a pic of that setup please? I am tthinking about back rest options and this could be an awesome setup for a long trip! thanks!

Oops! Just bad wording on my part. Not the best Idea to post when sleep deprived! No on the Altrider, one must take off the passenger seat. Now to reword/edit my post....

That looks very nice, I like it quite a bit.

Speaking as an owner of an altrider set up, the counter sunk holes concern me - my altrider rack failed at various places along the countersunk holes while being trailered to TN. I had just my raingear in the top box, all the countersunk holes developed small spider cracks and I did not catch it till I got home.

Also did not help the rack was aluminum. Not sure how you could avoid it honestly in your design since I know you want to fit a rotopax in the gap there, and a countersunk screw is way easier.

Thanks for the input Mike. The bottom plate is upsized to 1/4" for this reason. Doing a 2500 mile trip next week and will see how it does.

I mean, that luggage rack looks pretty awesome, I would be all for something like that myself in fact.

At the moment, I am using a givi outback topcase, and the mono key system or whatever it is, on an altrider plate. I don't like the altirder plate at all, the aluminum base was replaced with a steel one though due to the aforementioned cracking. Plus, I had to drill holes and bolt the stupid case to the rack because the givi mounting solution would rattle, the case would bounce up and down. You were supposed to use little rubber bumpers to fill in and stop that, but that is a kludge to a bad design - eventually all that rocking around and banging would break the mount.

I like their system that you can put a plate in place of the passenger seat, put I like your rack better. If there was a simple way to add / remove that passenger seat rack you would really have something amazing, instead of just awesome :) I take my daughter for rides often enough that I need the seat, she'd be mad after all .

I'm interested in the Non passenger seat covering version. I'd be fine with Raw alum and not powdercoated if it cut costs.
