Agree, shaft drive would make it much more appealing. The other sad bit is that the appearance of this bike probably means an updated Honda ST will never happen. Something I’ve hoped Honda was secretly working on.

Looks like a nice bike, very similar to the VFR1200X (Crosstourer). I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not buying one when Honda was unloading leftover 2017 models for $10,000.

I'm guessing it's engine is based off the Africa Twin, just like the Rebel 1100 or whatever? Honda is getting into using the same engine in many different configurations.

At first glance, I presumed this to be the ST 1300's replacement. But, no shaft drive? On a touring bike? WTF. With the shrinkage of the current 'Wing, it reminds me of the ST 1300 from the front. (never understood why they didn't name/market it as the Silver Wing)

I was told that the ST1300 was dropped because Honda believed adventure bikes were the future. So, I couldn't figure out why they turned the ST13 into a weird copy of a Road Glide.

They mind as well use one engine for everything. Makes production costs lower.

So, this is the new ST(1300). I'm sure that it was gonna require too much redesign to put the DCT on the V-4. And, since everybody loves the DCT . . . .

The VFR was a V4 with DCT, but poor mileage, lackluster sales, and Euro 5 compatibility expense, sent it to the crusher.

I have often wondered what Yamaha is planning for the future. Likely killing the FJR1300. Likely killing the S10. It would be nice to see something similar to the NT but with an updated Super Ten engine and shaft. Basically a bigger Tracer 9 GT. What would be even better would be added a dirtier version for those guys that want to single lane such as T9 Tenere with the triple.

Really? That is a surprise! I was sure it has cruise control operated by a button on the RHS switchgear? I think it is a massive over-sight by Honda if it doesn’t because with ride-by-wire throttle, it is so easy to incorporate and in this Honda Europe press release, it clearly states that cruise control is standard.

The Silver Wing scooter was sold here in the States as well.

It does seem odd that this is the Honda sport touring offering but no shaft drive, no cruise, etc. Maybe if it's selling at a lower price that will bring in people?
There was also the CX650 based (called the GL650) Guzzi-like v-twin tourer that first used the Silver Wing name back in the ‘80s I think.

I owned an NT700 between 2010 and 2015. It was a great bike for what it was (and underrated). It was my first "touring" bike and an upgrade from my first street legal bike - TU250x. It was an relative affordable way to get into motorcycling touring.

As a previous NT700 owner and reading about the NT650 that preceded it, this just doesn't seem like an "NT" to me. I know things change and we now live in a world where an electric crossover SUV can be called a mustang, but to be an NT, it had to at least have a shaft drive. The two main reasons it appealed to people was price and shaft drive.

I also toured on a DR650 and a Tiger 800. Chain maintenance wasn't a big deal, but really loved that the NT and SuperT didn't have a chain. The price and lack of shaft drive means I probably will never consider buying one. If I am going back to a chain driven bike like that, I will go back to a Tiger (or something else).

The VFR1200X was available in 2 versions the DCT and a 6 speed manual. There were lots of good reviews on the bike and if I remember correctly it was listed as putting out 125 hp. I test rode one shortly after buying my S10 and was impressed.
