Had surgery on my right big toe and 2nd/3rd toes. Had degenerative arthritis so the doc put in a nice plate with 5 screws to fuse the joint. My goal is to be back running by Feb (I'll be in various casts till then). This was week 3 post op, so had staples and stitches out and got a new cast......

Sorry to hear of your ordeal. Glad it was not an accident. I got the joy of three surgeries from 9/8/01 to 1/10/02 for a paintball accident. I know, WTF? Glad you are okay.

You asked so here goes. The scene was tough, dark cover of woods, heavy fire coming in from all directions. Most of my buddies had already been taken out. I was fighting for my life and had to stay strong to make it back to my loved ones. ;) I was fighting for survival here. Bunker 20 yards ahead, have to get there, make a run, stay low and slide in. Got sideways and trailing right leg caught an exposed root from inside and rolled right foot outward, snap, oh shit what was that, this is not good. Started crawling to the back of the field.

Sounded like war but it was just paintball and now I am truly screwed. Broken ankle, fibia and other bits. Had to hold my foot elevated while laying on the floor of a Jeep for an hour coming out of the mountains to get to a hospital. Saw me and said I needed to see a surgion on monday, This was Saturday 9/8/01. Saw the surgion on Monday, he could not get it scheduled until the coming Thursday, sent me home with Oxycontin and Vicodin and said deal with the pain until then.

Next day - is 9/11 and all hell breaks loose while I am high on pain pills. Surreal experience. Enough said.

Surgury on Thursday, Titanium plates and screws. Humpty dumpty back together.

Following week, stitches out and physical therapy starts. This is where it goes wrong. Got infected, lots of antibiotics, surgery to control infected area, open wound cleaned three times a day.

Another surgery to remove plates and make recovery from infection capable.

Freakin nightmare, played paintball twice since. I have a full Spyder setup if anyone is interested in it... ;)

All i ever had was a large pin in each big toe to fix a bunyon. I had the surgery done in doctors office under local anasthetic. I could feel him sawing my bones in half for the repair!!! There how was that for a thought!!! Good thing I had my earplugs in playing some music. The sawing wasn't as bad as the 5 large needle injections on each toe to numb the area. THe shots into the raw nerve were a son of a beeech!!!

I did it by choice. The doctor wanted to do it in the hospital using regular anasthetic. I said no way am i going to pay for that!!! Is it cheaper in the office? Yep he says, and since i did both feet at same time, he gave me second foot half off price. TO me some stuff is a waste of money.
I had to save some dollars for motorcycle stuff and trips. I am no dummy!!!
