Not everyone on the forum does Face Book. Looks like Heidenau has a new good looking tire on the way. For folks like me, this is right up style. I don't know, but im guessing its probably end of year delivery..

Ive been informed Im able to take pre orders for these tires that should arrive in January. Ive been told they are less expensive than the SCOUTS and I will have firm pricing very soon. Just wanted to throw this info out for anyone interested.

It'll be interesting to learn more about it as the release gets closer. Harder compound down the center perhaps? Doubtful. Definitely more aggressive looking than the scout (IMO) so it stands to reason that it will be more offroad oriented and possibly softer compound. Looks like a great 50/50 tire though.

cycle gear seems to have them in stock now ..... interesting tire from them.... scouts are good tires , just doesn't like wet and cold , but they developed a cold weather compound .... the rangers look like a great choice for a mostly off road weekend.

I had the Scouts on my GS, those are the tires I rode to Panama on, in fact had couple of sets and no complaints other then the front cupped too quickly imo. I would run them again on my S10 if it wasn't for that.
I know the senses say they were bad on wet pavement, I never had an issue with wet pavement but then I would ride in accordance to weather and bike setup.
Would you expect a street tires to grip the dirt if you pushing speed like a 50/50 tire, sounds like some do...LOL

I don't have a lot of experience on the rear K60 Scout, but I've pushed front K60 Scouts as hard as any tire I've had, never a problem with the front sticking. And I tend to corner hard and trail brake in, even fully loaded and have had them from Cali to Alaska with over 50,000 km on Scout fronts.

On rears the only tire I've never had issues 'breaking loose' under hard out of the corner acceleration has been the Anakee III . Everything else has required very careful throttle application (Every kind of E07 and also the Tractionator GPS)

YMMV :)

So I put the rangers on and they felt fantastic! tons of traction on gravel and felt great n the highway. BUT after 950kms they’re cracking.and can see lots of stress lines starting. so they are going back. i am disappointed that these aren’t working because They looked promising.

Hey SuperScott, they look destroyed and/or faulty from the factory.

I have had a similar experiences with bigger block tires on our heavy-butt S10. After long and hard consideration (and studying my various trips during the time I owned those types of tires) I concluded that it was probably due to the multiple days/weeks/months of sustained high rates of speed at high temperatures. Additionally, there were many times I imediately drove at relatively high rates of speed coming out of a cold overnight camping situation.

I don’t know what the speed and load ratings are on those new Heidenau Ranger tires, but that may be a contributing factor. Just because the tire fits on the rim, doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re safe to drive in all the various conditions we often put our motorcycles through.

I have had extremely good luck with the Heidenau K-60 Scouts. And I now also tend to take it a little easier, when the tires first start to warm up. Food for thought:cool:.

I figured when I saw the promo video heidenau posted with these tires mounted on gs1200 that they would be a good fit. the load and speed ratings are plenty for the s10. I do stay mindful when I research tires that they are appropriate for what I’m doing. I’m really hoping that this is just a rubber batch issue and can be corrected in future runs on this tire.
