I am thinking of trying the avons as my next tire, so called 50/50 looks a little bit more street to me . say 60/40 street to dirt, as where I live is mostly paved over and only occasionally getting on gravel, thought I might move slightly more street....I am currently trying to wear out a set of mitas eo7 dakars, they are not cooperating , probably be 6 more months and 6k more miles to kill them... that would be well over 10k in milage , just don't like how they feel at speed , wiggle and worry shimmy and shake is the dance they like at speed... never felt that with the OEM that came with the bike or the k60s ... I think when its all done we all will find that the k60s are the best tire ever made for this bike... well not the worst tire in any case.... so the search continues for the perfect tire to match the perfect bike we all ride.... I could be tempted to try some of the other mitas tires that are more knobby, maybe they don't wiggle when you cross over the center strip as you pass slower traffic....
reg. the E07s. I'm on my 5th rear E07. On average I get 8km. On a good tire i'll get 11k (but I have to groove the center strip with a tire tool).
If you keep the tire pressure at 34/32 PSI. I have confidence in the tires on the street.
they aren't street tires, and will move a bit more than a street tire. It will also make more noise.
If you go with a more aggressive tire than the E07, you'll go even further in the off road direction, increase noise, and movement.
K60s are a much harder compound tire. And I find them extremely sketchy in the rain. Not my 1st choice.

I have a bit over 11k on my first set of E07s and they started to square off about 1k ago. I'm near at the wear bars with mostly highway riding and maybe 10% off pavement for this set of tires. I've run 6-7 sets of K60s and they consistently get me 12k miles from the rear.

Unlike some, I have never noticed any issues riding in the wet/rain with the K60s aside from a brand new, 4 miles on the tire, crossing a paint stripe in the rain and getting a bit of wheel spin. I think any tire will do that. ::) Throttle control has a lot to do with riding in the rain. I grew up in Oregon, so have a lot of rain riding experience. IMHO, every person that complains about wet traction is someone that tends to wear out tires faster than those not complaining about wet traction. ;)

I'm impressed with the E07's resistance to squaring off compared to the K60, and the Mitas E07 seems a tiny bit smoother to begin with, but otherwise they are comparable tires for me. I do like how the front wears on the Mitas beter than the Heidenau. K60 fronts always wear a little left, then right, even out, then repeat which makes the bike want to pull a little to one side or the other as the front tire wears. Not enough to bother me, but enough to notice. The E07 front has worn more consistently even.

When the TrekRiders finally became available I spoke to an Avon rep about them and the general consensus was that I wasn't going to see the kind of miles I see from the K60 or E07 with the TrekRider, so I passed on getting a set. Especially considering the cost at that particular time, which was at a premium compared to the already expensive Mitas and Heidenau tires. (I'm old, I remember buying a set of tires for under $200 back in the mid 2000's)

It will be interesting to see what kind of miles people really get from the TrekRiders.

Safe to say I'm slightly harder on the throttle than you Eric ::015:: 11k miles for you, vs my 8 k km for me :D
It's a wear item. Oddly enough my PR4 rear on my FJ09 is at the wear bars at 7k km ::014::

I'm at 11,000 miles on the E07s and about to groove the center strip of the rear to get another 1-2,000 miles. No real problems with the E07s but am seriously thinking about trying the new Avons next.

I groove the center strip at 8k km, and can squeeze out another 3k km before having to toss the tire. My riding is 40% gravel, so the E07 is a good fit.
I do have a e09 dakar rear ready to go. will need to pair it with a front knobber...maybe a shinko 804..

Thanks guys for the updates/ replies so looks so far that we don't have any knowledge on actual user feedback on the TrekRiders.
I have TrailRider on the rear and like it a lot. Grippy in wet dry as it should be as and about 3000 miles so far with life left in it. I have in stock a front also as waiting for the Mich annakee 2 to expire which will be soon.
Also have stock of E07 but hope to try a set of TrekRiders for the winter riding. I agree on paper I can't see it as a 50/50 tyre and more likely a 70/30 but let's see. It's a cross ply tyre and Avon state that's better for off road. The proof will be in the pudding though so let's see if somebody on here comes forward with a review. Talking of which there are very little reviews on the internet when you search for this tyre!

Sorry everyone, (Stridey particularly) I kinda fell asleep (went away) for a while. Just started to return to the forum again and saw a thread about the trailriders and mileage and remembered that I kinda let things fall off.....a cliff.

Update, I now have 3500 miles on the Trekrider tires, give or take a few, and like the tires very much. Although they are a 50/50 tire I'll comment on their road manners first. I found them to be much better than expected on asphalt and I have no issue keeping up with others on pavement. Nothing weird in the feel as I roll over from side to side through the turns and they have enough grep for me. Off road, I think they are very good too but I'm not sure how much my opinion is worth as I have limited off-road experience so far.

The only negative feedback that I have is that I have noticed some cracking around the tread blocks and on the sidewalls BUT this was likely me riding them on pavement on one long return trip home with low off-road tire pressures and a fair amount of weight on the bike.

Concerning tread wear, at best they are only half-worn and I'm guessing I'll be replacing them once they reach around the 5000 mile mark. I do not see any severe cupping and the back tire is wearing slightly faster in the center section of the tire but nothing unexpected nor unwarranted in my opinion.

I may very well purchase these tires again (even for the next set) but that is no guarantee as I may purchase something else just so I can compare between different tires for myself.

Thanks for the update. I’ll try them in future once the TrailRiders have worn out. It would be good to get some more off road feedback though as they are marketed as a 50/50 eventhough I suspect more likely a 70/30?
Anyhow let’s see who chimes in on that.
I’m glad to see Avon are doing well on here and with Members on here fitting the brand. The company in the I’m in no doubt helped with injection of $ from owners Cooper Tyres!

I still haven't pushed the go button on these tyres. I need to look at some more off road biased options but also with road use to get to the off road areas so a 50/50 is my goal. I'm still interested in the TrekRiders but would like some more real world feedback? Its these or Michelin Anakee Wilds or Metzerler Karoo 3 otherwise!

Hi Any update from you or anybody else for that matter? Thanks.

Bike Bandit has/had a great deal on the TrekRiders, just ordered a front to go with the rear I put on a couple months ago. No feedback on the rear really, it grips well, is wearing well, does well on gravel. I'll let you know how the front handles.

Well I just ordered a set of the Trekriders today $233 shipped to the house so we'll see how they workout. I'm more of a 90% street rider with the Tenere, but when I off-road it, I tend to go places where the Brigestones Tourance tires should not go.

Reviving an old thread.

I came here looking to find other's experience with the Trekrider tires.

I picked a set up for myself back in January when they were on sale. I've been running them now for a little less than 3,000 miles. What I've read here is pretty much spot-on. The tire are more of a 65/35 tire than they are a 50/50 Tire. They are very good on the asphalt and if someone were to put them on their bike and pretty much only ride the asphalt I don't think they would find them lacking. They run pretty good on the gravel as well and once a person gets used to their characteristics as far as when they will hook up and how they will hook up the tire does well on gravel and dirt. My issue with them is that I expected to get closer to 8000 or 9000 miles out of them verses the 5000 (maybe 6,000 if I'm lucky) that I suspect I will get.

I would say about 40% of those miles are on gravel. I use my bike for some commuting but mostly it's just joy-riding and a big part of that joyriding is searching out new dirt roads that I have yet to ride.

If the Trekriders had a bit more longevity I would be putting another set on when the current set wore out but as it stands I feel the tires were a bit too expensive for them to wear out that quickly. I currently have a set of E07s setting in my garage waiting for the Trekridersto wear out. I'm hoping they have somewhat close to the same street performance as the Trekriders have but I suspect I'm going to be slightly let down.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully 5000 miles + will be achieved eventhough for me grip on road is more important. In Uk you can get the rear of this tyre for about £100 inc delivery in a few days. I agree that they are more like a 70/30 road biased tyre. I have the Eo7 Mitas and they are wearing quick too for me but I’m hard on tyres to be fair and in the Uk we have a lot of bends so our tyres wear quicker! The e07 are very noisy though at around 60 mph.

How noisy are the Trekriders on road?

At slower speeds they are fairly quite and at higher you can't hear them over the wind noise. At somewhere around 45-50mph you can hear a slight hum, but it's not bad.

I just noticed that the price of the Trekriders has dropped even lower than what they were when on sale in January.

At the current price I'd be tempted to grab another set of I didn't already have a new set waiting.

Well I only have about 2k miles on mine but I did 1200 miles of the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route on dirt.

On pavement, noticeable hum but not bad and the traction is very good wet or dry.

In dirt, dry dirt roads and large rocks they work good. If the road turns a little slimy, they will drop into any rut and you can’t climb out the side at all.
Also after the IBDR, down in the traction grooves in the tire, the rubber is gone in spots so you can see the canvas threads. The rest of the tire held up great.

Tried to contact Avon North America about this and they have not contacted me back about it for a month now.

I would call them more a 80/20 tire. Probably will not buy again.
