Just took delivery of my new '18 Tenere ES. So I ordered the Nelson Riggs 100% waterproof SE-3050-BLK SADDLEBAGS from Amazon, lighting speed delivery! Most impressed with Amazon and the delivery.
But, that is the end of my positive comments. The bags appear to be made of a heavy, no doubt waterproof vinyl like material provided that you roll the top of the bags to keep out the rain etc. Similar to a body bag...ooops sorry.
The buckles are world war one or two vintage, sturdy yes, but get real Riggs, with cold fingers who is going to take the time to thread the straps into the buckles?
I placed the bags over my rear seat and secured all of the straps. No, I don't have any special mounting brackets, only the Yamaha mounting brackets for the OEM plastic, break, crack on the first tip over panniers.
So my solution is: I'm going to cut all of these time consuming straps from the bags and just use some quality bungee cords. I've already replaced the straps with bungees and they provide a far superior method of attachment to the bike.
Oh, the big up-side is the removal and installation of the bags, using bungees it takes only a few minutes.
As mentioned, I bought the bags on Amazon so I cannot just go back to the dealer and return them, but if I could I certainly would. I read the description of the bags prior to purchase along with 13 reviews, all 5 star. WTF? So much for reviews.

Bought the same bags for my Alaska trip , Once installed , I will have no reason to remove them , as they came with a internal bag for quick transport of luggage. So far I like them. Time will tell.

Try going back to Amazon, my wife has had a bunch of luck sending stuff back and never thought it would go. Sometimes they offer a discount if you keep it.
Oh if you do keep it try ROK straps instead of bungee cords, they are way better.

These straps are so antiquated, a life vest has more user friendly connectors than these bags.
Do the straps stretch that is go limp in wet weather?
I'll remove my bags from time to time for cleaning two up etc. Just need an efficient way to do it...
I think I found it

Update, I didn't cut the straps from the bags after all, instead thanks to a tip from another Tenere poster I returned the bags to Amazon. Now that was easy!
These bags might do the trick for you but not my idea or design.
Just sayin

You beat me to it!! Amazon has a great return policy. They might be a little pricy but I highly recommend the Mosko Moto bags. These bags are bombproof and pack down tight when not in use.

Nice, will look into it. I'm not into hard bags at all. I have a set of soft bags that I used on my Africa Twin. They did the trick and they should attach to my Tenere as well. I just use a heavy bungee cord, easy to put on and remove.

Someone took Bungee Cords, waved his hands over them (as magicians do) and shouted 'Abacadabra'. POOOOOOF - Rok Straps.
They are magic. Period.

Once you use RokStraps you'll never go back to rubber or elastic bungee cords. I used two of them to hold a 70 L back onto the back of my Vmax for 5500 miles through Canada in '16.
Ok cool what ever works for you

Use whatever suits you for your purpose or application. I buy very good quality bungees and they do the job and are easy to mount and remove.
Some of you may think that bungee cords are a bit of a stretch, but I find them more user friendly and they work well on my Tenere.
