Where were you having discomfort on the S10? Mine is in my middle back. What did you do as far as handlebar angle? Did you change your bars? I'd really like to avoid doing that if possible. Also what suspension settings are you using? I'm using rider with luggage since I weigh 240 in gear. And using std to soft dampening.
Yes, main issues were shoulder/ back pain and tailbone pressure on the seat. I've kept the stock bars but have played around with rotating them forwards and backwards, using 30mm risers etc. One of the inmates on here found some inexpensive up+back risers and they have worked well for me. The shoulder pain has gone now. The tailbone pain must just be a "me" thing. My other half says I'm a pain in the arse, so she must be right!! The touratech seat is the right blend of support without being too firm but it was eye wateringly expensive. I use the same suspension settings as you do, just bumping it up to two helmets when the other half is on board.

It’s been a while since I got my pro taper, just remember it wasn’t as simple as swapping bars, while you’re bar hunting maybe you can get ahead of the game by sourcing correct threaded bar inserts that the hand guards screw into ( i.d. Of the taper is smaller than oem). For the life of me I can’t remember where I got the anchors so maybe someone can help out? Other issue is, the oem bar is drilled where the throttle connects to prevent spinning if the throttle bolts came loose, transfer those point to the new bar.. I think there is a thread about this. Hope this helps...
About the bar ends, I saw a video of a guy swapping handle bars on MT-09 with ProTaper Contour (banshee bend I think) and he just used a tap to create the threads that the bar ends threaded into successfully, I am thinking of trying that. And yeah, I am expecting that I'll have to drill in a few places for the throttle assembly. Worst case scenario i'll take it to shop.

Another big ergo to consider are your controls. I am super picky with mine. Long clutch/short brake lever and pointed so its comfortable both standing and sitting. I always have a finger or two covering the brake and clutch when riding. Other riders rely on their reflexes. So you adjust levers accordingly.
This is one of the first things i do when on a new bike, arms and wrists need to be in line proper with the controls , no bent up wrists (if brake or clutch are pointing to high) or over reaching cause they're too far down and away from you.

I had discomfort in my shoulders and upper-back riding mine with the factory sweep of the Bars.
I went with the ProTaper ADV-"High" Bar and it is no longer an issue for me. I can ride this thing for Days and Days!

Here's the write-up I did when I installed mine.

I tapped the end of the Bars to fit the factory bar-ends.
Everything fit fine, including the OEM hand-guards.
I have since upgraded to BarkBusters, and I had to get special mounts for the tapered part of the Bar.

That is so detailed, thanks a lot @SkunkWorks I'm sure that will help a lot. Since the extended lined from Jaxon is out of stock currently I'm also considering a single line and removing any junction points in the middle. Wondering if it will be easy to do for both brake and clutch line.

One other point to remember is to never ever ask advice on what bend to use. Ergo's are very personalized. One of the main reasons I went with Helibars risers was they were almost exactly where my hands dropped to comfortable riding position. 1 1/4" taller and 1 1/2" back when I was seated. I set all my controls, suspension sag, and ergos on the Super Tenere when seated.

On my Beta dual sport I had a hell of a time getting the ergos just right. I am very fortunate to be in a dual sport club, having a great Beta dealer who races and rides long events. Also being a long time customer of Flex Bars helps. I tried on a bunch of different bars until I got the bend that was just right for me.

Doing hundreds of miles seated then transitioning to standing for single track, sand, whoops, rocks, hill climbs, etc etc. Having a bike that you both stand and sit a lot is a challenge to get setup for comfort.

The Super Tenere has proven to be very comfortable on my body both standing and seated. My biggest squawk is the stupid shaft drive and inability to change gearing when doing miles of walking pace rock crawling.
