Read your policy careful.. some of these policies cover you from whatever hospital you're at, to another of your choice, presumably close to where you live, but they do NOT necessarily cover you from the scene of the accident to your first medical facility.

My friend who works for the FD/EMT out in the desert in California said that a lot of those helicopter policies are bunk. They cover one company but there are a few different helicopter companies that service the area. If you have "blue" helicopter coverage and the "red" helicopter is in the area, you're going to the hospital in the red one and your coverage means squat.

Just take it for what it's worth, do research and understand how it all works. A lot of these policies really help lighten your wallet.

when I ride alone I ride slower and more carefully . when I ride a long way from home I double down on the first statement .
I'm about touring (that's looking and awe look at that , a lot, stuff ) not risking my neck . last time I rode in a helicopter , the US Army supplied the vacation . don't care to ride a helicopter again.
as I get older I just want to enjoy the ride , but just incase , a rescue policy , is not a bad idea . hopefully nothing happens . probably nothing happens . but one never knows.
here is an old saw; just because you can doesn't mean you should...... or as Dirty Harry say's , " a man has to know his limitations " .

I agree with you 100%, but nobody ever heads out and says "I think I want to crash my motorcycle today." Well, maybe stunt people for the movies? Anyway, stuff happens. Being cautious is a huge step towards not getting in a crash, but not everything is in our control. That's part of the reason we ride, I believe.
