Mystery spring

Washed the bike today prior to some scheduled maintenance and I found this spring sitting next to the clutch slave cylinder. Doesn't look like anything I've seen on the Tenere before. Anybody have an idea of what it might be? Not losing sleep over it but thought I would put out the photo here on chance someone would recognize it. Could have been kicked up from the road and landed there. That spot always fills up with rocks and dirt for me.

There are not many spring mechanisms in the S10, the throttle body spring, it is not ..... and the other spring is in the seat latch, which by the design of the spring, I think it is not ... Lantern spring ???

Lantern spring ???
It does look like the springs on the top of the big square 6V lantern batteries.

The usual question still applies; What have you done to your bike recently? Any chance something you worked on lost a spring like this. I honestly don't think it comes from the bike though.

I think OldRider is right. Check your friends too, it's the typical joke that I would do.:) Once I put a little oil on the ground, under a friend's bike .... I left him worried for an hour, he stopped every 15 minutes to control, so I had to say it was a joke:)

Haven't done anything to the bike in 6k miles except an oil change. Rode the bike the two previous days totaling ~600 miles, no issues.

Spare parts for your nut bolt and odd end bin. If nothings wrong then nothing is wrong. Till it’s wrong that is. :)
It's already in the spares bin. I'm settling on it kicked up from the road and found a home in that litlle nitch.

Looks like a valve spring from a Spagthorpe Whippet (more like the Mk. I; the Mk. IIs were a bit longer).

looks like the spring inside the brake and clutch master cylinders, but if it had come out you would immediately notice the clutch or brake not working like they should!! I would put it somewhere safe and not worry about it, I suspect it come from something other than your bike..

I found a spring on top of my left case too. Looked like a spring out of a ink pen only slightly fatter. I panicked for a few seconds.
