There are a number of subjects to unpack here.

"...the title to this web site was still "Yamaha Super Tenere" and until Venture changes the title it would be nice if users still remember that."
Yes, this is - and is going to continue - to be the Super Tenere forum.
HOWEVER, notice that this sub-forum is titled "Other Bikes" so this discussion is being held in the place we created just for it. Game on in this section. Still glad you are here but feel free to not click on this thread if it bothers you so much.

I hope it's ok to reply on this thread from another thread, I just don't like bumping threads back to the top of the main page that I feel they should never be there in the first place.
It's too bad this Forum doesn't have a basement for threads that should never be on the main page. I can think of one that has nothing to do with motorcycles.

Checkswrecks, you always keep a cool head and reply intelligently no matter how much I irritate you.
You said if I don't like reading a thread then don't click on it, unfortunately when I turn on the computer and look at the motorcycle forums across the top of the browser, I don't like to read it so I end up clicking on a different forum more and more.
I think of the newbies that just got the new to them Bike of their dreams [Super Tenere] and coming to this forum and the first thing on the main page the click and read "how this bike has changed everything the think about riding and motorcycles and how great it is" then realize they are reading about another brand.
There was a time on this forum when a rider would get on here and try convincing us that ___ ___ ___ bike was superior, and members would join together, lock arms and hold off their attacks and the "BDBITW" would prevail.
Now days I doubt if most of the newbies even know what BDBITW even means.

It's well known that most of the old timers on this forum no longer, or very seldom anyway, come to this forum anymore. I realize we are getting old and a lot of them may have quit riding or moved to smaller bikes, but I still know quite a few that still ride Super Teneres , could they be like me and just don't like to read "IT" and end up clicking on another forum.

I realize times are a changing, but not for me, I'll continue to be the same and promote the Super Tenere. Oh well I guess that's just the way it is.

\Steve

The next chapter KTM thread?
Yes

I was thinking of starting a propaganda thread praising my XLHRRTV Super Classic Deluxe Limited Ultra Hard Tail and keeping it bumped to the top of the front page for the next year and a half and see how that goes over.

I’m thinking about starting one on crooked roofers after I just got ripped off. Ask me and I’ll tell you what happened.

I can just imagine but I would like to hear your story.
I just had a shingle roof put on. I paid for 33 squares. I kept an eye on the shingles and supplies leftover. I told the boss I wanted the 8 bundles left for a shed. Paid him. As soon as I left. They packed up and took everything. I’ve known 6 roofers. All crooks.

I suspect the real problem is Post Whores who can't or won't fail to comment on anything and everything no matter how banal or off S10 the thread is.

I really liked my Tenere, sold it recently but stuck around here a bit because it's a good group. That being said, there's more to life than the Tenere and obviously there are other bikes out there and most people are interested in them.

I'd suggest that if you only want topics pertaining to the Super Tenere that you start your own forum and make that a rule. I'm willing to be it will be a fun bunch of people....

I'm all in with you about being interested in other bikes. I like riding and reading about all kinds of bikes [mostly adventure bikes].
I'm also all for riders posting their experience and reviews of any bike they have or ride.
I just think it would be much better if their review was on the front page for a week or so then went to the basement. Not dominate the front page for a year or two.
I don't see any reason for another Super Tenere forum when that's what this one started out to be.

would you really want that level of moderation?

Now that is funny!
But please don't be doing that to this thread for the next year and a half.

I should try clarifying some of my statements related to this thread.
First off, I am not the owner of the Forum, or a moderator or have anything to do with the rule making on here. That is a good thing, or I might Ban myself.
The other day I realized while reading on a different forum that post were more favorable towards the Super Tenere on a non Tenere forum than they were on the front page of this [Super Tenere Forum]
I have no problem seeing threads on bikes like the DRs or Dirt Bikes or KLRs on the front page everyday, they are not in competition to the Super Tenere. But when a bike in direct competition is praise over the Tenere day after day on the front page then enough is enough.
I might be ban today but I will go down defending the Super Tenere on a Super Tenere forum with a clear conscience.
