. . . . Crazy experience feeling time slow down as you slide across the highway.
It's totally weird. My brain seems to be thinking at a normal speed, as the crash is happening at slow speed. Which means that the brain must be thinking at warp speed. Part of our fight or flight reaction I'm guessing

Hey @Heresjeff i've got a question for you. Unfortunately you've become an crash bar expert... I am looking into a set for mine, so which do you have and how did they perform?

How is the damage on the bike for you? looks dirty and just little damage, or am i wrong?
Eventually it is gonna cost some money with the riding gear damaged and some bike parts ofcourse.

Greetings
Stefan

Altrider crash bars, they definitely saved the radiator.

Only thing that broke was the mirror. The hand guard contacted the gas tank and scratched my pretty blue paint.

The contact points were: crash bar, skid plate, hand guard, side stand tab, center stand pedal, passenger foot peg.

The gear shift also was bent and flipped out of place.

The bike and myself, I estimate, slid 20 yards on wet asphalt. The bike ended up in the dirt and I stopped about 10 ft away.

Okay good to hear the important parts are oké. I don’t mind changing some parts when doing an unintentional dismount but scratched paint always hurts. Last year I put her down going like 10mph and had about the same contact points. Only I had my cases on so one got slightly damaged (nothing serious).

You made a proper slide, thank god for good protection gear.
my riding gear was undamaged due to low speed, how is yours?

Altrider crash bar repair, blued the stainless sliding down the asphalt the other day, found some 10ga stainless at work to beef it back up.

Fist time welding stainless. I’m not a welder

One wouldn’t notice ;). Just kidding, everybody has got to start somewhere. If you’re happy with it is what counts. Paint it black again, few mud puddle’s and you hardly notice it.

Great pic!
I have a water bottle holder (different than yours) also mounted on the same side of my ALT Riders.
My question for you is, how many times have you lost a bottle that is anywhere from full to half-full
while riding on the road? o_O

*My answer would be too many....
Many Many times
Just hit a rail line or a good bump

Too many is right. I have string around the bottle now to keep it in there.
