Something else to consider is the Yamaha MT01, 1700 V twin with massive torque, they handle well too due to the R1 front end. If you could find 1, the MT01 SP had Ohlins as standard, but they are as rare as rocking horse manure and were about £4-5k dearer. I know they were available in Canada, but not sure if you got them in the US - how feasible is it to get one from across the border?
Mine is a keeper and pretty much everyone I've ever heard of who parts with them usually always say they regret the decision. It never fails to put a smile on my face as soon as I fire him up.
now that's a good looking bike.

The V-4's on the Royal Star series were very reliable. Not uncommon to see several 100K V-4's out there. One guy (Bob Tucker) had a Royal Star Venture with over 400,000 miles on it. No need to fear the Yamaha V-4
Not to mention the established bullet proof reliability of the Honda ST1100 & 1300 V4s. The early Interceptors did have some problems with cam/follower wear, but I don’t think that was directly related to anything fundamental about the V4 engine configuration.

V max is a badass bike and I love the way it looks. I think there half the price of what mrsp is why? It's a muscle bike and Harley's are know for that although not technically true due to weight and lack of HP at least in stock form. With Yamaha's reliability it's the way to to go.

I know what you mean..... Super lucky to have this part of the fleet.... Pretty rare bird and still cool and fresh to look at 12 years later. A bike way ahead of its time.

NICE!!!!
I have always wanted a B-King but the timing was never right when one came around plus they are quite scare as used bikes in the North East.
The Tail-Tidy and Yosh pipes really clean up and sexify the back which is a real eyesore with the stock fender and exhaust cans.

Its on my keeper list.... Its a really cool bike, especially if you want something no one else is on. Ive yet to ever come across another one on any of my rides. Just minimal stuff like the Yosh, tail kit, ECM modded and tuned powercommander. If you can find one, theyre up there $$, but you wont regret it. Definitely not dropping in value. Busa motor in a streetfighter, whats not to love!

I was looking at the retro Katana and hoped they built with the B King in mind and put the Busa motor in it...... Id consider buying one.... But they goofed and put the run of the mill 1000 in it....

Suzuki put one of the better 1L engines in the Katana but with a tiny tank and mid-30's MPG, you'll be riding from gas station to gas station.

I am and always will be a hardcore Suzook fan boy of their old school scoots!!
Starting back in '79 with a brand new RM-125N (lots of leaves raked/bagged and snow shoveled in my neighborhood )
right through my first street bikes in the '80s:

This GIXXER was a constant source of "white knuckles" for me, it was scary light and quick!

I'll take the 1982 Katana, but the new one is just too chopped off looking in the rear. I suppose that is the style now, since all the sportbike crowd removes the rear fender anyway, but man that thing is fricking ugly.

I was impressed how close they kept it to the original. Of course, it was way ahead in styling to begin with.

I have a first gen V-Max sitting at my parents' house (only brought my S10 down here when we moved to Nashville). You want it? I give you good price. Not that I don't like it. It's a beast. Awesome sound, awesome power, and actually good handling with all the mods I've done. I just never ride it, and hadn't for about a year before I moved.

I think I heard Yamaha has discontinued the max , so what ever they have in the warehouse is all they got if you want new.
