Does anyone else feel like, with the cases off, this thing is a lot like a 1200cc MT-09? That burly 1200cc twin still has a crossplane crankshaft and can move like a naked sport bike too. Upright riding position, great handling. The MT-09 has a similar riding posture to the Super Tenere. Just had this thought for a long time now and wondered if I was alone or not.

"I" think that if the current T-12 can't pass Euro specs, she'll come back as a Tracer 10GT. I've also been saying for awhile now, that she's a lot more sporty than you think.

I only ride my S10 on tarmac. What I would like to see is an Adventure/Tourer in the style of Ducati’s new V4 but using the 1000cc motor from the MT 10
just for a few tenths of a second, (or not, it depends on the driver) .. v4 doesn't make any sense on the Multistrada. The v4 ... is not "overwhelming” on the Multistrada. I think it's more marketing than anything else. The thing today goes through downsizing, simplifying. That is why I believe "and as a personal opinion" that Ktm and its V engines chose the right path in terms of their versatility. .... Either way, downsizing implies "more rpm" ..... it goes from turning all day from 4000/5000 rpm to 7000/8000 ..... it is a personal decision ....

what is this MT-12 that you talk about
He was voicing an opinion that the T-12 could be a MT-12. I'm kind on the same thinking. With the T-7 being most definitely made for the dirt, more than the T-12. And, with the advent of the Tracer GT. . . . it made me realize that the T-12 is more of a GT, than a dirt bike. Especially when you consider that more, and more people are mounting road tires on them.

Coming from an MT-10, I loved that engine it was fantastic, but would be terrible on a touring bike with its horrible fuel consumption.

I have wondered why this motor has significantly worse fuel consumption than other motors in the same category.
Really don't know why, but it was complete nonsense, it was drinking as much as my Subaru XV, which is known for its not so good fuel millage lol.

It is the one thing that has stopped me from buying an MT-10, I know you can raise the gearing but so many people report fuel consumption in the 30’s but I don’t see how I could enjoy touring on a bike that thirsty and with a fuel tank that size. I would be too busy looking for a fuel station than enjoying the ride.

Talking about fuel consumption, the new V4 Ducati Multistrada is reported as having relatively poor fuel consumption. Maybe it is the Euro 5 emissions laws, or maybe it is because it is a 4 cylinder motor, either way, every bike that is sold as and Adventure/Tourer should have a tank range of a minimum of 200 miles to reserve.

Always a puzzle, is that. Reduce harmful emissions by using more fuel. How the fcuk does that make sense? You'd think the less fuel you burn the less the emissions you produce and vice versa.

My opinion is that it's a power issue. Can't have it without lower mpgs. Seems common sense to me. Where the power is made in the rpm range is also going to be a factor. The Tenere doesn't have to be wound up to make power. Can't have your cake, and eat it too.

there are some details of v4. as it does not comply with the euro5 norms (because it has more than 120grm of CO2.) ... European countries put taxes on it, which reach 30% of its valueDEE5DED6-0ADF-47B3-A683-20C1DC4F48E8.jpeg413E0A2F-F407-4FD7-8D11-9DFF71A18CCF.jpeg
