Finally got a chance to ride my new SP after three days of rain. If you haven't had a chance to try the latest triple, I recommend it. Super tractable with loads of torque and power. Will happily pull higher gears at low RPMs without complaint. Even rolls along in first without the need to touch the clutch or throttle. Super sharp handling as well. The quick shifter is a huge labor saver and performance increaseer: very smooth up and down. No need to use the clutch except from 1-2 and 2-1. Wish I had it on my Tenere.

Congrats on your new SP! Beautiful pics too! I've got my eye one as well. I've ridden all gens of the FZ/MT-09 including the SP. I completely agree with your take. The current gen is the best yet. Lots of refinement. Cruise control on the SP is the cherry on top ;) Thanks for sharing and I wish you two many smiles and miles together! :)

I concur with Streethawk. Although I have not had an opportunity to ride the SP yet, just knowing that it is 50 lbs lighter than my MT10 and great gas mileage to boot, has me eyeing them closely. I have done a couple track days on my MT10, and ride it extensively in the twisties of north Ga. and TN., and love it, but can't help wonder what the '09 SP must be like, now that they have the handling sorted.

The 10 looks like a great bike, but this time around I wanted light and lithe since I already have the S10. If Yamaha built a Tenere 900, I bet it would be a huge hit and a lot of members here would be buying one. The motor's power curve would really suit an adv bike

After riding this for a couple weeks, I have to say that the engine is amazing, it always wants to pull no matter at any RPMs and it's just as happy pottering along at slow speeds as it is playing TT racer. The quick shifter is also awesome, no need to touch the clutch except for when coming to a stop or starting off. Yamaha should definitely come out with a 900 Tenere.
