MRA Vario Touring Screen

It looks like I can get my hands on a discounted MRA Vario Touring Screen but it comes in smoke gray tint only. All of my bikes in the past have had clear screens which I mainly look over including the S10. Just wondering how dark the tint is and does it cut down much visibility immediately in front of the bike when you need to look through the screen?

Thanks,

Tony

I had a smoke MRA Vario on my 2012 Super Tenere and it was fine. I looked over it, so no problem. If I were riding off road very slowly, I suppose I would have the need to look directly in front of the bike, but on roads I prefer to look farther in front of the bike. If I see something directly in front of the bike at speed, it is too late to do anything about it. So, the short answer is I had one for 34,000 miles on my 2012 and no problem. With my 2014 I am running the standard screen with the MRA Xcreen attached.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the pic as well. ::008::

No problem. By the way, I had it mounted on a Wasp adjustable bracket.
It'll be going on a madstad bracket. I've been reading that a few riders complain about too much air getting through the cut out at the bottom of the screen and hitting them in the neck area. Has this been your experience?

I have the madstad with the mra vario x-creen and love it. No issues. Very adjustable set up. I thought I would lower it during the summer months for more airflow, but usually just leave it where it's at. I will only adjust the top spoiler lower. If it's raining, then I'll raise it a bit. I've had it for over a year and 7500 miles. I would buy it again. Money well spent. Of course I have the Yamaha winglets too. Also a must have.

No, I don't recall any problem with that. Perhaps my chosen adjustment of the Wasp bracket took care of that. I also had the Yamaha side wings.

I have the MRA Vario Touring screen in smoke, and have it mounted on the stock mounts. Personally, it works so well as it is, I've never considered trying a Madstad. The smoke tint doesn't cause me an issue with visibility. I have also not noticed any wind hitting me in the chin from the cutout.

Thanks for all the replies. You've got me excited and I'm really looking forward to the arrival of my new screen. Been toying with the idea of an MRA Vario screen for a while but they're a bit expensive in Oz until I found a good deal on Ebay, Germany. Can't wait to reduce some of that head buffeting!

Mine works well, I get down that way a fair bit, the route(s) between here and there are great rides.

I have that screen on both Teneres, but I do have the clear. One with Wasp, one with Madstad. Both work great. Dirt or street, we both look over the screens 99.99% of the time.

I have the tinted MRA on a factory tall wind screen and factory mount without any problems. But I do fold it in tight when off road.

Just thought I'd post a quick follow up report on my new MRA Vario Touring screen. Well.....after putting up with annoying levels of buffeting from the stock screen/stock screen + laminar lip and then the OEM tall screen the MRA Vario Touring screen has exceeded my expectations in delivering a very smooth, buffet free ride. Noise levels have also been noticeably reduced. I'm now one very happy camper!

The biggest dilemma I have now is to decide whether to tint my clear wind deflectors to match the smoke grey tint of the new screen or leave them alone....decisions, decisions! :-\

Yep, been there too. I decided that I was just being over pedantic and left them clear. They don't look out of place.

That makes me feel a bit better Poohbear. I got the screen at a discount price with smoke grey being the only choice available. If I knew it was going to work so well I would've paid extra for a clear screen. Bummer! :-[
