MPH speedometer on a Canadian S10?

I have a new Canadian spec S10 and I do a lot of riding in USA. From what I understand from reading here, my meter will not toggle to MPH, I also read here that USA spec bikes will toggle MPH to KPH, so I'd like to buy a USA meter unit ($450 from Partzilla) and install it on my bike.
I have a couple questions: Will this work or do I need a different ECU as well? Will the USA meter unit odometer start from zero or does the ECU store the accumulated mileage and display that as soon as I install the new meter?

No response to my questions here, so I went ahead and ordered a new speedometer anyway. It arrived today, but the part number has been superseded and it displays MPH only. My stock speedometer has kms as the only option.
I still like to have a speedometer that is switchable between miles and kms, because I spend a lot of time travelling in both countries.
So....... Would anyone here with a late-model speedometer that is switchable between miles and kms like to trade me, your used meter for my new 'zero miles' meter that is not switchable? A great opportunity to reduce the mileage on your bike. ;)
I'm in Apache Junction, Arizona until mid December, I hope to find someone local to save shipping and downtime.

First I've heard of a MPH version which is not switchable.
Not interested in switching, but do appreciate the awareness.

According to the Yamaha site, a USA spec 2014-16 S10 takes a 2bs-83500-20-00 meter, which is no longer available and has been superceeded by 2bs-83500-21-00. I opened the box not realizing it was different p/n so I can't return it. My kms meter is 2bs-83500-00-00.

In the UK, our meter assembly is 2KB-83500-10-00, tagged meter assembly MPH for GBR. This should be switchable in Setting Mode - 'Unit' which affects the speedo & fuel consumption units (Section 3-18 in my Owner's Manual) as we have to keep the EU happy, at least for the present.

However, I note from one main parts supplier here that they hold no stock; hardly suprising at over £700 UK.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I seem to recall there were a few strange spec choices for Canada, so I wonder whether there is some restriction within the ECU/ABS systems that actually controls the 'Unit' selection process. Might be worth talking to Yamaha Canada CS Tech Team if your dealer can't help. Can one of the US parts people, say Ron Ayers, shed any light?

I have to admit, I have never bothered to explore this feature as, over many years of travelling in Europe, by brain just computes the speed correction automatically. Then Cruise helps maintaining those speed limits accurately, alongside a BMW Nav IV (Garmin Zumo 660) - very important in Switzerland - which allows me to adjust for the speedo error factor (about 8% over on mine currently).

Incidentally, are you correct OP, when you talk about zeroing the mileage using a replacement meter assembly? I always understood the ECU maintained a mileage/Km distance travelled record whatever. Not sure - I could be wrong?

I do most of my traveling in the USA and just use the MPH on the GPS.

Interesting that both the USA and UK meters are switchable yet different part numbers.
There is a post on this forum from an S10 owner who had his melted meter replaced under warranty, his photo showed the new meter and the odometer was 0000, so mileage is not stored in the ecu.
I do have my GPS set to miles and that works fine, I'm just anal and want the bike switchable same as my truck and other bike.
If someone wants to swap meters I am offering to do all the work (locally, of course) and we will see both meters working on both bikes before the deal is done. It takes maybe 20 minutes to remove a meter.
