A couple questions for those lucky enough to already have their Super Teneres.

What are you experiencing as far as MPG?

It seems I read something regarding the panniers and plastic. I had read that they were aluminum, but are the mounting tabs or something plastic? There was a pic of one that had broken during a tipover.

Thanks,

Fred Z.

UP to the 600 mile service I was getting a good 45mpg. I've not checked it accurately since ... pretty sure it's better than that now. Will get onto that and confirm.

The panniers are a mix of aluminium and plastic. The basic box is all plastic clad in aluminium. The mounting mechanism is all plastic. The release mechanism is also plastic ... well thought out but does not appear as robust as I'd have thought for an adventure bike component. The key operation is also a tad flakey ... the XT I first borrowed had a very bent key resulting fro a touch of over exuberance ;) I've seen one snap off on the 660 Tenere which uses the same construction for its boxes. :(

i have never experienced any bags on other bikes causing a poor fuel mileage. It is usually from my right wrist!!! The damn thing keeps wanting to twist for some reason!!!
