wow... nearly 2000 GS/GSA's combined (?) in the 1st 2 quarters 2022. That's alot of people with $25K USD disposable income, or the confidence to finance. Good news story!

No surprise with the scooters. Cost of gas? Give me a scooter. Getting through crowded cities? Give me a scooter.

After the covid19 lock down and remote work many people questioned their status quo life and decided to invest in their well being...price of properties in Costa del sol jumped through the roof and motorcycles, electric scooters etc were part of that social trend of well being first..

We are 45 M Spaniards... 2000 is a small percentage. To me, these are the reasons for so many BMW`s
1. Good BMW's sales policy. I checked the web site. A nude 1250 GS costs 20K euros. Then you must add the packages, everybody gets them full equipped. For a nude GS they tell you, give us 6 K euros, then 200 euros a month for three years and we'll talk about the remaining 8 K at that time, you can keep it, give it back, change it for a new one... we'll see. At the moment of the purchase, it's only 6 K cash and 200 E per month. Looking at it this way, it changes a lot. Or, you can go to renting for 300 euros a month. And... BMW is aware of the second reason.
2. The ordinary buyer of a GS is a man above 50 yo. He is retired or about to retire. He has paid the mortgage back, his children are living their own lives, he has probably got an heritage... he's free of the major expenses he has had all his life on and wants to live a "second youth". Therefore he has money to expend and the will to expend it. Not everybody is equally wealthy, and many go through difficulties, but there is a percentage of the population who is somehow wealthy.

The amazing datum to me has been the total of brand new motorcycles sold. 100K in half a year, so 200K per year. How many millions of motorcycles are there in Spain? There has been an increase but 2021 was a COVID year so I think that 200K is normal. We like motorcycles a lot.

Sierra1 I agree with you.
Purificator81 Costa del Sol is not representative of Spain at all. Perhaps you mean that foreigners are thinking on their well being, it could be so.

Agree. It is not representative of Spain but it has probably the largest community of foreigners living there with a steap property sales during 2020-2022 (based on what my real estate agent indicated at least)....and I also guess that after work from home was adopted by several companies as a policy, Spanish might have thought to move to Costa del sol....
