A couple shots of the cockpit.

These next two are where you don't wonder if you are being watched, the question is by how many and who may be in cover close by. In the distance you'll see what look like big concrete pipes sticking up vertically just above the ground for observation points.

This is behind Camp David. A Blackhawk came thumping just over the trees inbound as I took the photo.

And this is the front gate.
I dare you

It would have been the dirt road one showing the dash.
But
I know enough to make it a fast shot and scoot, without shooting photos in that direction. Been a few years but one of our MD group did that and suddenly two soldiers drove up to him. They let him go after asking questions about who he was and saying "Don't take photos in that direction" (even though it's not a restricted road).

Old article but still valid showing how much of this underground stuff is in our immediate area. Dirt_Dad used to live extremely close to Mount Weather and I pass the both the (black-site) Olney Federal Support Center twice daily and the NSA HQ a couple times a week. Both of them keep police on the road and immediately go to car that stops.
Unfortunately, all for good reason. I still remember that January day in 1993 when a gunman opened up on commuters waiting to turn into work. I wasn't there, but it was a shock to this whole region and beyond.

The stock lights have been surprisingly good. Not 100 mph in the desert but 70 around here they are fine. The ambers really light things up.

Not that long ago one of the news networks had a piece counting all the political and terrorist attacks here in the general DC area just since 2000 and it was sobering.

Did a job for an ex Secret Service chap last year. Good stories re Camp David
It's funny. I work with a retired Secret Service Agent who was on the Presidential detail. I'm fascinated talking to him about his old job. He seems equally as interested in learning about us Adventure riders, and the routine things we do on motorcycles. Go figure.

I have to do some research. I know dealer can turn off service light with computer but on the older ones, up to '16 for sure you could go into service in the menu and there was a "secret code" you could enter that would let you reset the service light. That function may be long gone on the new bikes but I need to check it out to be sure.

Here in Australia its against the law to tell new vehicle owners they have to bring their vehicle back to the dealer for all servicing. In the past they have tried to tell buyers non dealer work will void the warranty. A mechanic challenged it in court and the judge said dealers a can't do it. Comes down to illegal restriction of trade by dealers.

They had that here until 1975 when the feds pushed out the Magnuson-Moss warranty act. Basically told the manufacturers, owners can work on there own stuff and not void any warranties. You just needed to make sure you have the proof of what you did was in accordance with what the factory said needed to be done. Unfortunately this does not appear to apply to all the computer stuff running modern equipment/engines. At least here, that means we don't inherently have the right to change or clear something in the vehicles computer, only a dealer. Auto manufacturers are locking up the ECM's. Ask any farmer here about working on their modern tractor when it breaks down during harvest or planting.

They have been trying to change the law here to include being able to work on the electronics, and some of the companies are slowly allowing it, but most are fighting it. Non warranty work that needs specialized computer programs can make up 25-30% of a dealer/manufacturers profit.
