Most durable skidplate?

Can anyone speak to T-Rex's lower exhaust protection? This photo from their site, with the exhaust peeking down, keeps me from pulling the trigger. Or is it just an odd angle? For comparison, here is a HepocBecker that seems to have more coverage.

ACD doesn't appear to be making skidplates (for S10s) anymore.
I can speak about the T-Rex Plate.

First off, it mounts to the Frame and to the front engine-mount bolts/studs. No part of it touches the underside of the engine at all.
It does not cover the "CAT" part of the exhaust.
It does tuck up just slightly closer to the bottom of the Frame/Engine, and because of this the Catalytic-Converter protrudes just slightly below the rear of the skid-plate.
I can tell you that the Catalytic-Converter is extremely thick, and will take quite a bit of abuse on its own. I have dragged mine across rocks in the past, and it has a few scratches and digs in it.
I no longer have it mounted to the bike, as I have switched to an Arrow Header. The Arrow exhaust does not protrude below the Skid-Plate.
I have a Gen-2 bike.......................... If the Gen-1 Catalytic-Converter is smaller, it may not protrude below the Plate but still will not be covered.

Tabasco's Skid-Plate is undoubtedly the strongest one you could possibly get for the Super Tenere.
If I would have had extra money at the time, I most likely would have ordered one from him.

I can tell you that the T-Rex Plate is extremely Stout!
I have bashed mine on rocks, dragged my bike over rocks and logs, and it has taken all the abuse I have thrown at it so far.
I even lift the bike with it when I want to pull both wheels at the same time.

It has held-up extremely well.
I don't have a picture of the underside of it (my bike is currently at the Dealership getting the brake-switch recall done) but when I get it back I can take a couple shots of the underside.
Last time I had it off I pounded a couple dents out of it.

I must say I am so impressed by Tabasco's masterpiece. I have friends in the UK who would love it. I once stood with them whilst they voiced their appreciation for the quality of welding on an ancient generator at Glastonbury lol.

Shipping is pricey due to the size. I think Tx to Seattle was $120.

Worth every penny!

Ours is the most bomb proof, no question.
For your Altrider, you could have someone weld a thicker plate to the bottom. That would help.
I’ve seen and worked every skid plate available.
I really like the design, but does not clear arrow headers. Also can this be redesigned to mount to altrider crash bars instead of front engine mounts. Thanks.

Yes-yes. It can be used with arrow headers and they were designed to be used with Altrider crash bars. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks

Here are some detailed pics on your facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Ride-On-ADV-678244025556248/

I will tell you when my AltRider bites the dust this is the skid plate I'll be getting. You are getting what you pay for!! This is some amazing fabrication and strength added to the bike.
Also Jaxon provides amazing support. I had a rare fitment issue that was NOT his fault and he got me sorted over the phone.

So will a T rex skid plate work with Altrider lower crash bars? From what Ive read the Arrow exhaust is fine with Trex.

Hi, I tried to install t-Rex skid with arrow headers. Did not work, there is not enough clearance. But I have seen some pictures where tenere owners managed to install.

I have the T-Rex skid-plate, and it fit perfectly fine with Arrow headers.
Where is the issue with the clearance? Is it at the front, or toward the rear?
Mine doesn't touch anywhere.

Hi, it is at the front and the right side. I see you have oem crash bars and studs to mount the t-Rex.

I have alt-rider crash bars, that goes to the same engine mount. I returned the T-Rex and installed alt-rider skid plates.

Originally want to install outback motor trek, it was a nightmare getting the right side crash bars, it bolts to engine casing, I did not realize that initially, however I like their skid plate that mounts to crash bars. I have similar setup on my v-strom 650.

After screwing up a thread on left side during installation. I felt any day it is going to be pain, if I want to remove for maintenance etc. further it does not have lower support for radiator. So returned it.

Thanks
Vikram

Middle of construction, each panel being 1/4" is completely welded inside and out for ultimate strength. And of course still has our warranty on the part. You break it , I'll fix it ! ONE-N-DONE.
