they have a sign that says to stay of the arch , like I need a sign that says to keep my 250 lb butt off of there. one day some one will be the one , not me. remember that thing about straws and camels backs.

so the first crash had nothing to do with a bike as I was walking , sand is evil , what to do but take a picture..... the other crash was a crash as I did not see the deep sand till I was in it (sun had me blinded ) and I am not very good at sand . did I say is eveil , and gravity is it's bitch . so as I lay there , heart pounding , doing a self evaluation (mainly ,will I ever see my wife and kids again ) mak10 comes back to find me laying there. his question , "are you hurt ", my reply "no , just taking a nap " .... by this part of the day I am wore out , and we are not close to being done yet.

so no more photos after that as the sun went down and it got dark and we had a long way to go ……. not sure if any one else has finished this ride after dark , but we did.... had no choice , and getting out of the park was hours and miles and switch backs going up the hill in the blackness . and one more switch back on a steep down hill full of sand..... did I say sand is evil ….. I crashed , the choice was the wall or the edge , I chose the wall . mak10 had to come back up and help me , we are both stuck and tired . (in situations like this , a mans temperament shows up ) mak10 never lost his cool with me (maybe in his head he did , wouldn't blame him ) …… it was around 11 pm when we got to pavement again ….. what a day …. we may be the only two people to ride up out of the park in the dark on 600 lb bikes.

so , we needed more water , nice campers gave us some . we needed to start earlier …. maybe not as many photo stops ….. and the one good thing is we had good lights on the bike so we could see... we were flirting with "blind mans bluff as is " …. Saturday was a rest and eat over priced average bbq ..... but the company was good. that's my view of what happened at moab. and there are probably more memories to share as they come back .

Wow riding after dark in country like that yikes ! My Tenere definitely doesn’t have good enough lights for that !!! And even if it did no thanks just to dangerous for me On a Tenere .

i accidentally rode into some deep sand once this summer, luckily didn’t tip over but came very close, for a little while thought I might have to get someone to help get it out but very luckily managed to get it out myself.

There is a picture out there somewhere of a Honda doing a wheelie across Musselman arch.

They’re going to open this trail to ATVS and sideXsides on November 1st. It’s going to change. Steps will get bigger, sand will get deeper and getting a pass will become much harder. I’m glad we got this off your bucket list.

Always remember to be prepared. I had 4 liters of water, basic supplies/tools zip ties, wire, electrical tape, tire repair items. You are only as prepared as the least prepared in the group.

For me the Super Tenere is ideal on this ride. Pick your line well and make the big girl dance. She puts a grin on my face every time.

people are asking did I have fun.... I say define fun..... parts were not fun , parts were fun , overall I would say it wasn't about having fun , but doing something very hard , and surviving even if it took some help on parts..... there was new friendships made , memories to remember , and a "I did that " that most would not even try.... would I recommend it to some one , no.... not on these big bikes unless you have someone like mak10 with you....
