Just bought Mitas E09 Dakars front (110/80R19 $86 shipped) and rear (150/70R17 $99 shipped) for my S10. Really wanted to buy a second bike, for trail riding and keep S10 for commuting/road touring but a second bike wasnt in the budget. So, trying to lighten the S10 out a little and run some knobbies for some dirt work. I searched the forum and didnt find anyone with experience with E09s. Worst case, I'll post next week with pictures of them installed and then in a few months with a mileage and handling report.

There is really no need to get feedback on these tires. It is going to handle like any good open block tread. It will be loud and move around on the pavement. Off the pavement it is going to shine. I recommend to put a Shore A durometer on the tread to see how soft the knobs are. I imagine the Mitas tires are going to be somewhere in the 80 range. That's a really good price on those!!

I picked up a set of these a while back when someone posted a good deal on them. Still in my rafters, looking forward to hearing how they work for you.

I used the E09 for a while some time ago before switching to the Motoz Tractionators. Off road the E09’s grip like a French whore and know no limit. On the road they took a bit of getting used to especially the front as I found they did not naturally lean over into a bend or pick up on exiting, I had to ‘manhandle’ the bike to push it over and pick it up on exit.

With regards to tourer/commuter/trail rider, I face the same dilemma. As the ST is inherently heavy, (i.e. the weight of the rear wheel and final drive compared to that of a trail bikes rear and chain) unless you strip the bike down to its bear bones you won’t achieve much.

I ran one Dakar set, good tires, much improved grip off pavement. I would estimate 30-40% better traction and 15% of E-07 life. They still don't turn the Tenere into a dirt bike. Just add a little confidence, makes things a little easier, do not add capability. On pavement they were good also. I scrubbed them in on a sportbike ride. Fully aired up they were very predictable with only minimum squirm cornering at spirited speeds. They didn't last long enough for me to ever test them in the rain.
