I was talking with the owner of a good size dealership [ Larsons ] just before the show, and he said. Last years attendance was the lowest. And depending on this years it would determine if it would be last year for Minneapolis. Cant walk to the Market bbq from there anymore as they have moved. I was out of town, so not able to go. A good friend went and was slightly disappointed as well. He was able to sit on the new Honda CRF250F. And send me a picture of one. The day I was talking to Mike at Larsons I put a down payment on one for my grandson.

Companies like Yamaha that don’t want to pay to attend the shows or encourage dealers to put on a display make it harder for everyone else. I would hate to see the International Motorcycle Show close up but unfortunately it’s looking like that might happen.

Bought my 13 yamaha Raider at Larsons. Very good people to deal with.

I heard somewhere that the Millenials, and younger, are more interested in side-by-sides than motorcycles. If I'm going to spend $15k, or more, on something, it had better be able to go from coast-to-coast. Some states have legalized the side-by-sides for on road use, but not all. Point being, the manufacturers are going to follow the money, and we're the dinosaurs.

Yes I believe side by sides are a big factor in the reduced motorcycle sales around here they seem to be selling very well and are perfectly legal to use on lots of roads . The road past my house is an authorized ATV route and many days I think there are more ATVs going by than cars. Lots of friends are into the side by side and ATV thing, I already have ATV but have been thinking maybe I should get a side by side but wow they are very expensive to buy .

For me, the return for my investment in a UTV does not warrant the price tag. I'd go the "Jeep" route. Especially in your part of the frozen tundra; Jeeps have much better heaters. I know, apples and oranges. But I'm getting off thread....again.

I live in rural Minnesota and at the local dealers bikes take up near permanent residence on the sales floor while side by sides fly out the door. A lot of those SBS sales are powered by tax writeoffs- If you have a farm it's easy to deduct a SBS, but try to deduct a motorcycle and you'll probably get audited. If a good lake is nearby, the bikes will be hidden behind boats, motors, and Personal Water Craft as well as the SBS- I'd ridden by the Yamaha dealer I bought my S10 from several times and thought they were just a Yamaha mrine dealer 'til I saw the S10 online!

Well, if those articles are correct, and money is the issue, it can't be the Millennials buying the UTVs; not at those prices. As far as people wanting "retro"....that's your hipsters. But, personally, I think Indian is Harley's problem. It's retro/different, good performance, and reliability.
