Metal shavings on final drive plug

This is a photo of my final drive drain plug after 8k miles, and the second time it's been changed. Lots of metal on the magnet. Just a heads up to not skip the final drive fluid change. It is easy to change. The hardest part is finding the right funnel for filling it. I plan to change the fluid every other oil change.
Love this bike!

Yes, I agree. I documented with the dealer since it is under warranty.
FYI, the shavings were not apparent on the plug until I smeared it to get the shavings to stick out off the magnet. For reference here is a photo of the plug before I smeared it. It just looks like sludge, but is actually the metal.

Yeah, that thickish, near grease type consistency is what I find on my plug, but not shavings.

It's a type metal dust and oil combination.

I found the easiest solution to be a large syringe with a piece of tubing. I just run the tubing into the fill hole and inject the gear oil into the final drive. It's easy to control, and the syringe itself tells you how much oil you've pumped in. It's easier to see the fill hole too, in case it starts to overflow. I bought a couple 150 ML syringes and tubing on Amazon for $12.99.

A bit chunky looking compared to the normal micro fine particles i get.
Could it be the shims are off?

Shavings on the first change or two are fairly common. After that, it ought to be the black sludge.

I change the fluid with each oil change. Don't forget to also lube the pivots for the shifter and rear brake.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it continues. You should see the mess that typically comes out of a Ural FD. Terrifying, but they just keep going!

I just changed mine last oil change, it came out looking like the day o put it in about 30k miles ago.
I'm at 84k now.
Never seen black sludge come out just fine Etch A Sketch color looking metal particles until it cleared up never to be seen again.
I did notice when using Valvoline SynPower 75-140 it was weeping out of the seal and vent cap.
I change to Castrol Syntrax 75W-90 Synthetic and now it stopped after cleaning the Pumpkin staying oil free.
I didn't overfill it the first time it could have been caused by heat expansion, don't know.
