Hello, I have two remaining engine plugs. Its the larger plug on the right side of the engine next to the oil fill plug. These are really nice because they are metal and not plastic. I have run the same one since 2012.

$25 ea

PM if interested. Thank you

i am not a mechanic, what exactly is the purpose of that plug ?
It covers the access port for the crank bolt on the right hand side. The stock one is plastic. If anyone where to fall and that is cracked it will split in two pieces and fall out on the ground. Oil will come out of the motor and dirt / water will get in the motor. The metal one wont crack in half. The metal is also much easier to take off and on when performing service on the engine. Ive run one now for eight years with heavy off road use and no issues at all. Small nice upgrade.

Is this a common fault with the plastic plug?

Common, NO...... but when a little tip over ruins your day / trip / engine, its too late....................... LOL Just a tid-bit of insurance.

It sounds like a good mod, I'd just never considered it before. Looks like it isn't for me though. If I end up off road it's because it's all gone horribly wrong and I have bigger problems to deal with!

I understand !

I use my bike to get me to the off road, then im in love ! I ride my Tenere like a 450 Moto Cross bike and have a good time on it. I have some scrapes and scratches on my clutch cover from falling over up Emogene Pass, Colorado. Straight up a mountain with all baby head boulders at a crazy steep angle. That would be very last place I need any issue with a little plastic plug ! LOL
