A new member map has been installed and is available from the "Members" tab at the top of the page.

A few notes:

1. The map is only available for logged in users. Guests cannot see it.

2. This map automatically tries to geolocate you based on your IP address, so you probably already have a pin placed.

3. If you want to move your pin around because it is not correct or you want to make it look like you are somewhere else, you can grab your own pin and move it, and it will retain the new location.

4. If you want to opt-out of being shown on the member map, you can access the "Opt out of member map" option from the "Privacy" portion of your account page. Click on your name at the top of the page to access your account settings easily.

@AVGeek I am not consistently showing on the map. For some reason I seem to be doubled up with IBEW_Sparkey. He shows up on any initial open of the map. If I wave the mouse over the pin it alternates between me and him, but the location is wrong for me, cant speak for him.

One time I zoomed way in and the pin came up with my name and where it was supposed to be. Any chance you guys can fix it?

Thanks!

My pin's there; shows that I'm in the back yard. My pin was gone for the longest time, too. I guess that makes me an "official member".

Cool, works great for me. I moved my pin into my cul-de-sac, it was a ways off initially. but still in Tupelo. Thanks for the upgrade Venture! :)

Yours was the first one to pop up when I moved the map to WI.
So you see a pin that says cycledude ? I don’t , the nearest pin to Rib Lake wi is down by Abbotsford and that’s about 30 miles south of Rib Lake. That’s ok it really doesn’t matter much or maybe it’s something I’ve not done right.

Mine shows a cycledude just north of Beloit.
I'm now on the map and pin was at my house, very nice! But would-be thieves would know exactly where to find the worlds fastest Super Tenere so I moved my pin to the local beer store parking lot. :)

Hmmmm….not being very "tech savvy", does that mean your pin moves with your internet service? So, if your phone is your computer, could they tell where you are?

Yes YELLOW is usually the fastest color .

Motoguy is the guy I mentioned earlier that I thought lived by Abbotsford . but after zooming in a little more I see he must actually live by Medford which is about 12 miles south of my house which is out in the country and has a Rib Lake address . There are at least 4 Tenere’s in my area that I know of .

Not liking the sound of that too much. Hopefully one of the mods can clarify how it works?

Edit: just gone into settings and ticked the box to opt out and after clicking "save" the page refreshes and the box is unticked again. Most confusing...

When I use my iPad with internet service through my verizon jetpack for some reason when I’m at home it thinks I’m in the Beloit wi area so that probably explains why my pin is about 250+ miles from where I live. If I use the jetpack on a different tower than my home it usually knows exactly where I am.
Right now I’m at McDonald’s in Medford using their internet which always knows exactly where I am but my pin is still showing way down by Beloit .
I have a weather app installed that has a button to press to show the weather at my exact location but I’ve learned not to press that button while at home because it will show me out in the ocean somewhere in an entirely different part of the world and it’s pretty difficult to even get it back to the USA .

With this member map, just click on your pin and move it wherever you like. The pin doesn't follow my computer or phone, when I was in Arizona my pin was still in Ontario.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not worried about it. Just wondering if it's service address, or GPS, that locates the pin. I subscribe to the Tim Kennedy opinion: "They can send whoever they want, as long as they don't want them back".
