I got the DHL request several times too. Except they don't service most places FROM the US, only TO the US. In other words, good luck finding a DHL distribution point near you where you can mail/ship items out. But in the rest of the world, they are very popular. If you're in a major city you can usually find them, but you have to go looking for them and it's not as wide spread as USPS, that's for sure. DHL does better on a lot of shipping quotes and crossing the US/Canada border, they just don't court US business much.

They tried to make in roads into the US but went with the Franchise model. They bought out Airborn Express. The problem was the franchises were mostly mismanaged and peoples packages were being lost or mis-delivered. My brother-in-law was a pilot for Airborn so I go the whole story. They couldn't compete in the US with FedEx and UPS so they scaled back.

So I can see them getting a good rate Aus->USA but USA->Australia was very different price model.
Shipping in general has gone WAY up the last few years even domestically. My guess is companies like Amazon are beating them up so hard on shipping contracts that they need to make up the difference elsewhere.

This should be my last update. Installed the new computer and was able to give it a short test ride today since the temps went above 40. All seems to work correctly now. Hopefully there won't be any long term issues.
I’ve been dreaming about getting an McCruise , have you had any more chances to try it yet? The older I get the more I find my right arm/wrist/elbow/shoulder needs a break occasionally!

I have used it for short trips. This week was suppose to be the big trip to VA which has since been cancelled due to covid. It has worked flawlessly since I got the replacement unit. My only regret is not buying it sooner.
