Fifty years a mechanic and I've never seen an oil related failure. Over the years I've seen a lot of lifetime warrantees that would cover your engine if you let the dealer do the oil changes and used XXX brand of oil. They knew that XXX oil would never be the reason that an engine failure so they would never have to pay out. I sold Maxima for years and yes it's a good oil for your engine and I always use a semi synthetic oil. I read years ago that semi syn oil gives you the good properties of full syn and carries dirt to the filter better than a full syn oil. True or not, I don't know, but it made good sense.
