Those look good...the Tenere doesn't show up in their dropdown list for Yamaha models, though. Maybe I'll call them tomorrow to see if another model uses the same drain plug; thanks!
You have to select motorcycle and ATV from the top border, then you can select Yamaha and Super Tenere from the drop down lists.

Edit - Choose an older model year and it shows up. On the 2018 it did not. I looked at 2012 and 2015 and it was there on both of those.

Got it! You think they're worthwhile, Eric? Worth using these for BOTH oil drain plugs?

I would also suggest the filter magnets and also a set of low profile Fumoto (M12-1.5 BSX Series) valves. These are what I will be installing on my next oil change. They are the small/low profile ones. They can also be indexed for additional clearance.

Wow thanks a bunch for that link. That's what I use on my car. I didn't know they had low profile ones now. When I first got my Tenere I looked at everything they had and nothing would work.

I think one on the engine plug would be more beneficial than the one on the sump. Just thinking that the engine is stirring things up more and there is a strainer on the sump side. Still, I'm a sucker for overkill. I'd probably do both if I was going to do one. :D I'm not running magnets on my drain plugs, except the oem one on the final drive.

I used one of those on my Big Dog. Made life a lot easier at oil change time. The S10's are easy to get to on the side with the Rumbux skid plate off, so no need for me on this bike.

I just took one of my factory drain plugs to the local dealer and got a set of matching moose magnetic drain plugs. They fit great and do catch a lot of junk at oil changes. I am happy.

I am of the opinion that a magnetic oil drain plug is not necessary since any filings will be caught in the oil filter. Yamaha installed a magnetic plug in the final gear oil and this because there is no filter there.

I've got the one's Altrider sells. I mainly got them because of the low head height and being able to use a allen to tighten them. I posted a pic of them installed a few months ago.

Are these a waste, or useful? Looking at the ones from AltRider...not cheap, and I'd need 2 for the Tenere. Thoughts? Are they worth it, especially on a new bike that's still theoretically breaking in?
Mostly just wasted money, lots of motorcyclist get sucked into buying them.

I wouldn't say it's wasted money. If your engine had a mechanical malfunction of some sort that was not audible that resulted in metal shavings it would show up on these magnetic plugs. May be a stretch that you wouldn't hear or notice it but the signs of unusual wear will be easily detectable.

Another thought is how effective is your oil filter? If the filter doesn't take out shavings, again the plugs will pick it up.

I like them just for the curiosity of what will show up.
