::006::Recently installed the MadStad windshield bracket utilizing the stock windshield. I have it set in the high position on the bracket with an angle towards the rider.

Really can tell the difference from just the stock shield/bracket setup. Much smoother air flow and now the wind is directed up and over my helmet. The bracket also has the crossbar, really convenient in mounting GPS, Phones, etc., and adds stability to the entire setup.

Anyone else using the MadStad with the stock shield?

I am but I have the Russian wing attached. It works well but moves a lot off-road. I even added an aluminum brace but it really moves when the road gets rough.

I have a Madstad on my Tenere. If me (6' x 32 inseam). For me the stock screen with or without the Madstad is still a noisy ride. Better with the Madstad but not great. I installed the 18" Madstad adventure windshield that I had leftover from my Buell. Damn near perfect for winter but not the best looking combo. The Madstad wiggles a bit on rough road but love the cross bar to mount my gps and phone. Looking to mount the shortest windscreen I can find or make to fit the Madstad for the summer.

The madstad lets the stock windshield mount like 1ft higher than stock? I guess that would probably cut wind over the head pretty well, but the looks are rather lacking. I suppose function is the important thing. If it works and you don't mind the looks, that is the main thing.
Looks? Since when does anyone who rides an adventure touring bike, worry about looks? JK...I'll be purchasing the Yamaha Winglets next...should make it look really ugly!

I should also report that I'm 5'9" and I also have the seat in the LOW position. I'm looking just over the top of the stock shield with the MadStad set to the highest position, tilted back towards me (halfway in the stops).

I like the "TRANSFORMER" look that the front end now has!

I have not but I just might try it this summer. I run a Parabellum tall for touring normally. I think the point of that bracket is that it allows you to quickly and easily get the most out of whatever shield you use. As everyone is different, what shield works best for you will be to. I do know the stock shield in the stoclk bracket lasted about a week an a half for me (far too much noise). I am, however, 6'2" with a long torso and pumpkin head (3XL) do odds are I catch more wind that most.

I'm 6'1" and have a 2013 ST. For everyday rides I use just the stock windscreen. When I go on long rides over several days using also motorways, the stock windshield is simply too noisy. For such rides I put on the MATSTAD bracket and use the OEM Tall windscreen and I set it up so that I can just see over the windscreen. This is far more comfortable.

I purchased a madstad bracket. First, I was told I could use my stock windshield. I realized that the stock shield doesn't quite fit on the bracket. the curves not match up. I contacted madstad and was told that I can't use the stock windshield... My experience has been that the stock windshield does not fit perfectly over the madstad bracket.

When did you purchase and what year s10? I was told that I couldn't use the stock windshield. (see below) I wonder if they changed their design to only allow their windshield.

This is from Madstad

You have our brackets but are using a stock windshield?
As you can see, the brackets are designed to work with our windshield. It has to do with the curvature
of our shield and the bend of the bracket.

If you try to force the shield onto those brackets, it's probably going to crack the shield.

The mount was on the bike when I got it. The bike is a '14, but I took the tall V-Stream off and put the stock wind screen back on. The mount has the side braces, so it may be a newer version.
